He had previously attempted to sabotage the gas pipes at their home to kill her (and most likely their two children as well). Cillier owed large amounts of money to payday loan companies and is thought to have wanted to secure the £125,000 life insurance payout he would have received from his wife's death. Cillier spent large sums on sports equipment and expensive gadgets and was having affairs with a woman he'd met on a skiing trip and his former wife, as well as having sex with prostitutes and random women from hook-up apps like Tinder. I was always surprised that Hillary Benn managed to pursue a successful career in politics. Wouldn't you have thought that being named Hillary might have proved an insurmountable handicap?
