Failed Statelet Premier League (and other divisions) 2019/20

Recommended Posts

I'd say the Crues again this year, Linfield just behind although funny feeling Healy will be binned before the end of season, Cliftonville, Glenavon and Coleraine the chasing bunch .

Glentoran will most likely be pushing for top 6 again, oh those  title winning days seem like a lifetime away.

First Irish League goal at The Brandywell in 47 years, as Mickey McCrudden scores to make it Institute 1 Newry City 0, somewhat against the run of play, apparently.

Coleraine start with a comfortable 3-0 win over Warrenpoint Town at The Showgrounds. Linfield win 1-0 at Mourneview as Glenavon miss a penalty. A last minute winner for Cliftonville at The Oval after going 1 down to Glentoran. Ballymena beat 10 man Dungannon at Stangmore, although they were 2 up by that time, and Institute win the battle of the promoted duo, 1-0 at The Brandywell.

The Crues play on Monday - must be against Ards.

Coleraine get an excellent win at Solitude to give them 6 points from their opening two fixtures, as do Linfield who defeated Institute 3-0 on Friday.

Crusaders dropped 2 points at Ballymena, 2-2. I think Ballymena are going to be hard to handle for the "top" teams this season. Glenavon win 4-2 against Warrenpoint Town, Town are pointless after their opening 2 fixture, Glenavon get off the mark after their opening day defeat. Glentoran get their first win, too, defeating Ards 2-0, to leave Ards on null points, aussi.

And Dungannon can't be too happy, either, no points from their opening 2 fixtures, losing 2-1 at Newry City on Friday, to get City off the mark

Last season Coleraine had a "good" season for the whole season instead of two successive good half seasons. Is it too much to hope for two good seasons in a row?!!

Times have changed when you're disappointed with "only" a draw at The Oval - Glentoran 2 Coleraine 2. The Bannsiders were twice behind but fought back to get a point, a deserved point, apparently.

More to follow.

Three in a row for The Blues after a 2-0 win at seaview, which leaves Linfield top, 2 points clear of Coleraine who snatched a late draw at The Oval. Ballymena are third on goal difference after a 2-1 win at Ards.

Institute won again, beating Warrenpoint 2-0 at The Brandywell, and Dungannon picked up their first point with a 1-1 draw at home to Cliftonville

On Friday Glenavon won 2-1 at Newry.

Ards and Warrenpoint have no points yet.

Ten man Linfield draw at Solitude to go top with 10 points, after Glenavon temporarily usurped that position following their Friday night win over Ballymena. Glenavon are second with nine points.

Coleraine were also playing on Friday night, and dropped two points in a 2-2 draw with Institute at the Showgrounds. The Bannsiders are third with 8 points. Fourth on goal difference with 7 points are Glentoran, who defeated Dungannon Swifts 2-1 at The Oval, then come Crusaders who scored a last minute winner at Warrenpoint, winning 2-1, then Ballymena and the fourth team on 7 points are Institute, who must be pleased with their start to the season.

Ards picked up their first points of the season by beating Newry City on Friday, 4-0.

Cliftonville are sixth with 5 points, two points ahead of Ards and Newry City, then Dungannon with 1 point and bottom of the pile at the moment are Warrenpoint Town who are pointless.

Everybody has played 4 games.

Bit of a storm in a tea cup, although on the face of it, a strange action from Carroll.

Never felt the before match handshake was necessary to be honest, however I cant See why he wouldn't in this particular match unless it was some type of mind game thing.

How Cliftonville's Catney stayed on the pitch is completely beyond me. Already on a yellow, (arguably should have been red), and then he grabs a player by the throat with no punishment. Several fouls after that too.

All sorts of theories being put forward about Carroll.

Go on, then, give us a theory...
