League Cup 2018/19 Group G

Edinburgh deserved to win better organised showed more desire while all over the pitch we pulled out of tackles well think that clears up the mcniff is such an improved player and duffie being a proper right back ( remember that one [emoji23]) hopefully it has convinced DL also we can't have both grant and Rankin playing so deep
A minor blip

Edinburgh had us licked from the off. Any team with any sense will play the way they did against us. For as much quality as we have, we're entirely one dimensional. Keep the space between midfield and defence slim and we're left with featweight young boys, a slouch in John Rankin and a completely isolated centre forward. And that's with Stewart and Cuddihy giving us width, too. Imagine we'd Duffie, Lang, Cogill or McNiff down the flanks from the off. Woahf.

I'm going to coin a phrase here, to spare length repetitions through the season: 'the Berwick problem'. Remember the last match of last season? It was a showcase for how one dimensional we are and for how, without adding-in some real physicality to our forward line and midfield, we will fail to take top spot this season.

The fitness advantage we leveraged in the second-half of last season isn't there any longer. We need a tough, phyiscal partner for Goodie and centre-midfielder that'll let us play a 4-4-2 without worrying about being played through. It's a red line. Very clear and very simple. Find those players and we're untouchable. Carry on as-is and we'll be too predictable to be champions.

All that said, QoS should be a better match for us. QoS aren't likely to approach it in the same way as Edinburgh did.

You would think so.

Have to hope Semple is a good defender Doyle is a full back end off .

We  somehow won the game  only because Stranraer had a crazy 5 mins before half time .

Stranraer the better side for most of the game really deserved something from the game .

Queens have a lot to work on  I suppose the only good thing was that we won the game

Aye, that's right. Today negates everything that went before it. But it's a minor blip at the same time.

Nothing but science from the cfcuk keyboard, as per.

Still think duffie is a real right back or have you forgot about that one [emoji23]

The club is always looking for volunteers why don't you offer your services at technical director ? You clearly think you know more than Lennon and Moore

Good plan by Clyde to put in our worst performance against a team that has no real chance of competing with us for top spot in the group. Ten points will still easily be enough to see us through, but it at least guarantees that the Motherwell game will be competitive. It might have had a negative affect on the attendance if we had already secured our qualification before the game.

Moore and Lennon worship at my feet. I've won League 2 with Clyde in Football Manager umpteen times. They still haven't managed it.

Guest Flash

In case any Clude fans are thinking of taking the train on Tuesday (unlikely as the train back is scheduled for 21.51) it is a rail replacement bus service this week. The bus after the match leaves at 10pm and gets into Glasgow at 1.30am.

Don't do pre-season games and never really got into the WC this time - so looking forward to some actual football tomorrow night. Watching 'Well play in Pilton on a sunny evening at a sports centre was a (genuine) highlight for me last season - as I lived nearby for years and it was all quite surreal...so disappointed that this is at Fir Park.

Makeshift defence, a couple of new players, new strip, new scoreboard(!) and checking whether the worst old roasters round me have finally pegged it due to apoplexy during the summer - can't wait.

Is the old Tesco the best place for Clyde fans to park tomorrow night?
Ice Bowl would be better if you're lazy as it's on the side you'll be housed. But Tesco would be fine otherwise.

If we play through the midfield it should be a win but if we play like the first 40 minutes and Clyde are more ruthless upfront then we'll be in trouble.

Keep the ball on the deck, we play better that way. Hopefully that's realised quickly tonight.
