Larkhall Thistle thrown out of Caley League

Larkhall’s behaviour has finally caught up with them. League winners this season and should have spent the summer preparing for the Caley Premier league.

Instead they’ve added being thrown out the Scottish Cup to being thrown out the league this season.

Can I ask how they got thrown out? Was it an accumulation of yellows and reds going over the point threshold or was there some sort of incident?

A game recently ended in mass disorder and not for the first time in a match involving them. Their on field discipline has been worse than acceptable for a number of years and had been dealt with by player suspensions, fines, etc.

The final straw was essentially a riot.

That's a shocker. Chucking a team out that's won one of your Divisions and supply a few league select players and players who are in the Scotland Squad. BIG decision.

All teams should be able to follow a code of conduct through out the club, if your disiplinary is poor and you have already been pulled up for it before and continue in the same manner, then you deserve all you get.

Why is it shocking? They are a team of thugs and have been getting away with murder for years.

Fair play to the Caledonian League for valuing their brand over having a decent football team in it.

Would it not be the decent teams that make the brand tho???

Weren’t they the only Larkhall Thistle in the Caley League and the only one likely to feature in the Amateur Football section?

Yip but it comes up in the front page as latest updates on all threads

Yes but if you have no morals then you have nothing. They already rioted against Maryhill Thistle in the Scottish because they were getting horsed at the time. That's dragging the leagues name through the gutter.

And they're not that good. They'd probably be lucky to be top 3 or 4 in the Premier League.

Can also ruin the leagues reputation if they are seen to condone that kind of behaviour.

Will this set a benchmark for other leagues to follow. Teams who repeatably break rules should be dealt with accordingly.  Too often it seems like leagues turn a blind eye when it suits. There a numerous clubs rumoured to be paying players , personally I think this is killing the amateur game and should be investigated properly. Its allways a case of there is no proof but there is no smoke without fire and it definetely needs looked at.

If teams are given continual warnings about behaviour and don't change their ways then they should be barred.  Unfortunately the team will no-doubt just come back with a different name and the same idiots.

As we all know only too well it's getting harder to attract players to the amateur game. It's certainly not made anymore attractive by the thought of getting kicked up and down the park and verbally abused for 90 minutes.

At last a league have stood up and drawn a line in the sand. Maybe if other leagues took a stand against poor discipline and other issues that arise, I am sure it would help to raise the standard across the our game. It should not be forgotten that it is our game, the clubs, players and committees who make it possible for us all to take part. The leagues are there to foster and grow the amateur game at our behest, we vote in officials to run them. The Cally have an executive that does not shrink and hide when it comes to hard decisions. Well done.
