Howlin' Wilf
We’re still not in this league because of the Sons. You’re in this league to a large degree because of your own player Lewis Vaughan and his performances for Dumbarton. You effectively swapped him for Ryan Stevenson who was a big puddin’. DumbartonTheSons
The competitive stuff isn't anywhere near starting and the inane nonsense and bickering has already started.[emoji23]
sonsism
Thanks to all the Raith fans we're guaranteed Perry has at least 4 good games this season if he plays against them. Maybe he'll even get a wee last minute winner for some extra seethe. Much more excited about the other signing - some real potential at RB! Howlin' Wilf
Exactly. So we’re not in this league because of the Sons. I’m glad we agree on that. Denial isn’t just a river in Africa you know. I’ve just checked and I may have been unduly harsh on Ryan Stevenson. To be fair, he scored four goals for Sons which is the same as Lewis Vaughan. In other words each of them scored four goals more for the Sons than Chris Doggone.

albundy
This is how we'll announce it: BALLANTYNE BECOMES A SON Dumbarton FC are delighted to announce that Cameron Ballantyne has agreed a 1 year deal at the C&G Systems Stadium. Cameron joins after winning the League 2 title with Montrose last season and Dumbarton had to fight off full-time opposition for his signature. Manager Stevie Aitken said "Cammy's got great ability and I think that shows with the teams that were looking at him, but the boy just wants to play football and we can offer that to him here, so delighted to have him on board". Cameron's home and away shirts will be available for sponsorship please contact Alan Findlay for details. *picture of Cammy in Sons shirt*Dumbarton FC also signed Ross Perry today on a 1 year deal. You should get on the blower to AF.
Sons Fan
Ohhh now that’s a good bit of business Ballantyne on board.
Howlin' Wilf
Exactly. So we’re not in this league because of the Sons. I’m glad we agree on that. Both Dumbarton and Raith Rovers ended 2016/17 with 39 points. During the season in the four fixtures between the clubs, Dumbarton won 2 lost 1 and drew 1. Dumbarton’s superior goal difference in the league over Raith was 7, 5 of which was against Raith. The way goal difference works is that our positive 5 against you adds 5 to your goal difference against. Take away the games against each other and Raith would have survived comfortably. The Moonster
Good to have Ballantyne confirmed. Hopefully a couple more can arrive before the weekend, expect it will be trialists though.
Jan Vojáček
Having read what the Montrose fans (and FF) have had to say about Cammy Ballantyne, I don't think we could've found a better right full-back. Delighted with that. Our starting eleven looks far better than I had feared.
Sub-Keeper
Very happy with the business that we have done so far. Looks like we have a preferred starting xi signed up before the first competitive game which is very nice indeed. Couple of loans and one or two other back ups and we'll be sorted!Whisper it now *i'm actually starting to get a little optimistic about the coming season*

Howlin' Wilf
On paper the squad looks far better than at this stage last year. I like the sound of Ballantyne . A very decent back four, a solid midfield with some creativity too and a recognised striker. Pleased with that and quite optimistic.

Aye, and if we'd held on for a draw against Hibs, we'd be safe, if we'd gone down to Ayr with an actual goalkeeper we might have picked up a point to keep us safe, if the ref hadn't given the Dobbie free kick at Starks, we'd be safe. All ifs and buts, end if the day we weren't good enough to stay up but we were fucking shite against everyone, not just you. Perry is utter dross, and you will notice when he plays. Going from Craig Barr to him will be like going from a sports car to a broken down tractor. Rest of your side looks fucking minted for this shitey league, mind. Give or take Bobby "shitehawk" Barr. 1320Lichtie
Perry won’t play what’s the big deal, would be like Dumbarton fans slagging off one of the Raith youngsters for being shite.

Tbf it wasn’t Stevo in nerd that cost you that night. He pulled off some brilliant saves but it was poor defending from a set piece that gave us a goal. Poor decisions from your board have cost you and another one this year (keeping Smith) could cost you again. However I think the teams are much more equal this season with Raith, Dumbarton, Arbroath and Airdrie all realistically challenging for the title. It should be a pretty exciting season ahead so I’ll be keeping an eye on it while also watching Ayr storm to the Premiership
