My old P7 teacher was called Mr Bottom. So embarrassed was he by his surname that half way through the year he became Mr Barren.

It wasn’t until near the end of the year that we found out he had a sister called Rosy (who hadn’t changed her surname).

At high school our PE teacher was Jim Hall.

Biology was with Boaby Phelan.

At uni they reckoned 30+ percent of us had developed a drink problem by the time we left (I already had one before starting). You’d visit the careers adviser on the way out. He had his name plate boldly displayed on his desk... Jack Daniels.
