How does it stink? Applications are invited for Fixture Secretary. If anyone wants to stand for General Secretary they can submit an application too and will be voted on by Member Clubs.
If Clubs arent happy with the new position they can submit a proposal to revert to the status quo.

Last year Robertson and his cohorts didn't think there was a threat to his position. He thought it was a foregone conclusion and he was a certainty to keep his position.
He won by the closest of margins. Just enough to retain in power.
This year he's obviously shitting himself because he knows his time is up.
He's a wounded leader and now being protected by his pack gathering round him.
It's quite clear the rest of the management committee have no backbone.

If you separate the position into 2, what's the point to the General Secretary and who will have seniority? Will we see the GS overruling the FS?

Scenes if  Kennie and Robert got their heads together and one of them subsequently applied for each post.

Just saying...

Kennie and Robert battle it out for the General Secretary position and Scott Robertson takes the Fixtures Secretary job unopposed.

Can't help thinking even if the two of them got the new jobs they'd just create a third new post for yer man.

West Region, not SJFA

Cronyism in its finest.

Not able to do the job so reduce the responsibility to keep someone in position.

The place needs gutted from top to bottom if any hope of keeping any form of junior association going

Surely this has to be seen to be a positive move?? All criticism of SR is about fixtures and fixtures only. He will still have to stand for position of General Secretary at the AGM and may not win his seat again anyway. Perhaps the Region have realised with the change in structure of the Leagues, additional matches etc that the overall role is now too big for one person??

I honestly think that no matter what the Region does at the moment that there are those who will find a way to criticise, moan and be negative.

Rule 6 section 6 of the constitution has been clearly broken by introducing a fixture secretary post  . Last year at the AGM kennie young put a proposal forward to become regional secretary which was a proposal defeated. Rule 6 6 clearly states that the manage committee cannot introduce change if it breaches a proposal defeated at the AGM    The only way a fixture secretary can be introduced is to put the proposal for a fixture secretary to the west before the 30th of April. This date has passed so therefore it is unconstitutional. The proposal should only be accepted  for next years AGM

I seem to be in a minority of one here, but I actually think this is a good move forward.

We can debate how and why it has come about til the cows come home, but I think we can all agree 99% of any criticism directed at Scott Robertson has been relating to fixtures. If he is standing for re-election as General Secretary and a new Fixtures Secretary is appointed, is that not a step towards addressing that criticism? Is it also not a good thing that any potential new FS will be sitting alongside experience and can lean on that?

Wish this had come out sooner, but that doesn’t stop it being a good idea.

Kennie was seeking election so therefore it was not a proposal to alter the constitution. If you did think this it would bar Kennie from standing again under the rule that a defeated proposal could not be presented at the next year at the AGM. The Committee have also license under the Constitution that give them powers at any time to add to the rules where deem it expedient. This is why Scott Wilson was appointed interim Treasurer when John was unable to continue with his duties after the AGM

This has been an on-going discussion on how to manage the expanded league fixtures and exploring the cup competitions set up.

Are the clubs really going to fall for this?

If this position had been created midway through the season when it was apparent that the GS was not coping, then I would have seen it as a progressive move by the management committee.

Now it just stinks of cronyism.

Would this position have been created if there was no challenge to the GS position?

I think not.

As it sits, both KY and RB have stated that they are running on the 'Fixture Fiasco' question. So I would assume that they would both have to alter their sights and now apply for the position of 'Fixture Secretary' and step away from the GS challenge. Thereby leaving SR as the sole nominee for the General Secretary.

It looks like he still controls the Management and manipulates them to his benefit.

Is there anything to stop Kennie and Robert both applying for both the GS and FS roles ? After all, it's been one job up until now, and they both were willing to do that.

Got it -

General Secretary - Robert Burns.

Assistant Secretary - John Fyfe

Fixture Secretary - Kennie Young

Advisor to all Secretaries- Scott Robertson

Word on the street says that if Robert becomes GS,and Kennie assumes the FS mantle,Don Scottie will then be inducted into the newly created ( though apparently long in the planning ) post of Grand Imperial Junior Wizard.

And to think that we almost lost his services back in 2017!

Well thank you very much for the confidence shown in me . First piece of advice.  Let the man who has never trodden on doggie poo take the applications for FS.   Secondly people who live in Stonehouse should not throw glasses
