Kieran Tierney

Nice wee piece about Tierney on BBC Sport today:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/55522579

Former Arsenal centre-half Martin Keown tipped him as a future Arsenal captain.

Manager Mikel Arteta suggested: "He's got something special in his blood."

The Scotland defender himself said of the wintery conditions that had put the game in doubt ahead of kick-off: "It is what it is."

Do they play slightly higher and get forward more or not?

Yes, yes they do. Can as has Tierney played both roles on the left. Yes, yes he has.

I think we are discussing on the right

Everyone agrees he can do it on the left , some even think he is better than Andy Robertson , in Robertson's position

Maurice Malpas
(  and Doug Rougvie ? )
Maurice Malpas wasn t a good left full back ?

Danny McGrain was a magnificent left back for Scotland. He was by preference a right back but by playing him there we got the benefit of being able to include another excellent player in the team ie Sandy Jardine at RB. These discussions are nothing knew. FWIW I’d play Tierney at LCB in a three but he’d clearly be a very decent option at RB if we did play a back 4.

Im aware of that ewen thanks.

The point obviously was, if has played the same role on the left hes not going to be absolutely clueless as how to do so on the right. As some seem to believe

He's been fantastic for months. If half of them had an ounce of the desire he had then they'd have been nowhere near the bottom of the league.

I don't think he's their 'best' player but that's a pointless argument anyway. Saka is a game changer and is probably the most effective player with Tierney just behind.

Danny McGrain is the finest full back the British isles has ever produced, imo

Magnificent again tonight, just laid one on a plate for Aubameyang. If Arsenal don't continue to improve he won't be there for long, he's a level above almost every player on the park tonight with a few exceptions.
Absolutely, stands out a mile in that Arsenal team. Week in week out he's the only player that the pundits call out. Tremendous player, tremendous future

Aye they were creaming it over him and rightly so.  He is probably their best attacking outlet which is quite something from LB. All he needed was a sustained period of fitness and now he has had that he is really starting to arrive as a top player.

For comparison, he's exactly the same age right now that Robertson was when he was breaking into the Liverpool team.
