Seems to be an obsession about 'hoof and hope' one here, anyone watching the top leagues in the world will see goalkeepers passing goal kicks to full backs inside the 6 yard box, then what usually happens is after a few hurried passes it ends with......a hoof and hope from someone. I have no problem with a keeper booting the ball from his box to the oppositions box, absolutely nothing wrong with it, you just need forwards and midfielders to push on and take a chance, if you don't then it looks dreadful from the sidelines. (we are not good at it currently)

I'm not asking for Pep Guardiola's tiki-taka or Jurgen Klopp's geggenpress, but when McCallum kicks it upfield we don't have anyone that can win an aerial duel and then play the ball to someone else, it just easily gets collected by the opposition and then they attack.

So, I agree we haven't got the players to do that, that's why people are saying Malcolm is out of ideas. Route one isn't working because we don't have the aerial presence, we don't have quick wingers to counter so we need to work out what these players can do.

Yeh we do...Scally and Robbo are quick, we are just badly missing Doris.

When a team cannot defend (like us) the best option is to get the ball in the other half, it's not all about 3-4-1-1-1 formations and all the other bull that coaches talk about.

Solid 4-4-2 usually doesn't confuse a team.

With the rapid rise in infections, partly due to the new c-19 strain(s), I can see the season being shut down again in the new year.

With todays announcement that the South African variant is already here, appears to affect young people harder, and is even more infectious.

It seems a bit daft to have most of the country in the highest level of restrictions, only to allow a few free to travel around to kick a ball about. And that includes training sessions.

Personally, I will say I think it has been daft to allow free travel to kick a ball about and have training sessions and without doubt the new UK strain doing the rounds is a worry.  However the % of positive tests is probably a better indicator of infection rates and there has been no rapid rise in those.

As for the South African variant, 2 cases in the UK is, currently, hardly reason for shutting anything down.

Accept it we are a gang of no hopers, 2 shots in 2 games...manager who has no clue to tactics and no luck.

What to do. First, tell him do leave, I mean anyfuckingone in charge  for the next game, the future, the board should be on the ball for recruitment as we are a diddy team, if the manager is shite, replace, if the manager is good he will be snapped up by a bigger club.

I understand we are like most businesses during COVID don't have much petty cash,  WE NEED TO GET HIM TO f**k (24th Dec 2019), check your notes

Forfar like a sexy girlfriend you had a fling with back at high school, you have grown older and seen more beatifical football as your travels have given you, but you still love your first love. f**k you may even look at football porn on the TV, You just know we will have a chance if they change things now, but no chance if they stary the same...... c'mon baby give me one more chance.

Merry Christmas by the way, All I want is  3 points a shot on fucking target. on Boxing day

Another game with a lack of attempts on goal. 1 this week and 0 the other. Can't see us moving off the bottom with these sorts of performances. I don't think struart is the man to get us out of this mess and so would need a change in management ASAP.

No one likes to see a good man lose their job, and I don't doubt that Malks is a good man.

But that doesn't change the fact that under him, wins, goals and shots have been few and far between.

It strikes me that the players need more of the Dick Campbell inspiration than any tactical genius. That's not to take away from Dick and the way he plays the game, his track record speaks for itself.

Too many of the current squad seem to be playing within themselves because of the tactical setup, which, without meaning to sound harsh, does allow players to go missing.

As for who could come in, the Petrie ship has indeed sailed. That doesn't mean A Donald should be allowed to forget it though.

The current climate is such that the club would surely be looking to unemployed managers or players looking to move into management.

As far as I'm aware, any time the job has been available, there has been no shortage of candidates, its whether the calibre of candidate is available.

I would also consider that Clyde are the team nearest to us, and they have in the past shown no fear in spending money to stay in the division.

If Malks is still in charge come the end of the first week of January, and the Board give him money to sign players, he's going nowhere.

However, I still don't think the board are going to give him his P45 just yet. But will they give him funds? I don't know. And if they do bin him, what managers are available? What sort of players are wanting to move into management?

Let’s be sure of several things, firstly, Malcs is a great guy, his passion for the game as a whole is almost matched by his passion for this club. When he was appointed I was delighted for him and hopeful for his future as Loons manager. It only got better when he recruited Sellars and Foxy who have an even greater affinity for Station Park. A more experienced and proven manager would have been preferable but he was a leader on the park who read the game well so had promise as a manager. Sadly, it’s not happening for him, maybe it will yet and let’s be honest, the three centre backs’ injuries along with Doris’s injury problems have taken away four quality players at this level. Had those four and Hill been fully fit our predicament wouldn’t be what it is. I’m not suggesting we’d be  in the promotion hunt (though looking at Montrose, who’s to say we wouldn’t?) but we wouldn’t be in the struggle we’re in. I would say the extension to Meechan’s contract would suggest unity in the squad, Ross is a player who is not a local and could walk into any squad in this division, maybe even higher, but he’s committed to us/Malcs. I still hope it works out for Stuart at our club, I’m not confident it will, but I remain hopeful. Some new faces with quality, TBH says there are new players coming in, and a better balance to the team and we can hopefully climb off bottom and then grow.
c’mon you Loons

I don't doubt that Anderson would have been a tremendous leader on the park as well as a class performer. The other injuries have compounded that.

The Doris injury has exposed the squad for what it lacks, a creative influence or, in Doris' case, someone to take that one golden chance. The lack of creativity is what concerns me, though I assume that could be altered within the tactical outlook, unless Malks truly believes he doesn't have the players to do that, which means he didn't address that in the "summer", or couldnt get the players. If that is to be addressed, the situation is not out of reach.

In my time as a match going supporter, we have had 3 ex forfar players as manager. The less said about Jim Moffats spell the better, and TCs spell ended on a sour note. I'd hate the same to happen to Malks.

George Shaw and Ray Farningham were ex-players too, and neither set the heather alight.

As it stands I can't see us staying up, we need a big January. If we're going to make a change in manager we need to do it now

I would imagine the Board will stick with Malcolm, certainly if he’s bringing in players in January it looks like they are.

looking at the league predictions at the start of season most had us down as 10th and losing Anderson, Whyte and Doris really hurt us, so I’m not all that surprised at where we are.

But.....

the tactics are brutal. We are a one trick pony and that pony is to keep the opposition from scoring for as long as possible. Once they do we have nothing else, there is no plan B. Malcolm has virtually admitted that his cunning plan is to get Doris back so that he can hold up our punts up the park. There is no entertainment in that and I don’t think there will be many points either. Would have loved Malcolm to be successful but his record is awful, we are awful and it is hard seeing us avoiding the relegation we deserved last season. We only have to look up the A90 to Brechin to see where this is going unless we get grip soon.

This.

The injuries are no excuse for the way we are set-up and playing.

Malcolm pinning all his hopes on Doris coming back so he can get the punts up the park in to overdrive. Got to remember too he was playing last season when we were sliding towards inevitable relegation.
