I'm sure technical director at St Mirren will suit him a lot better than his post here has been. Best of luck to the guy but I wont be shedding any tears and look forward to exciting times ahead.

Let's hope these "exciting times" don't involve Lowland League play-offs.

I was excited enough at TNS game last week.

Disappointed to lose Gus. A manager is judged on where the club was when they arrived, against what they achieved and where the club was when they left.

We were rock bottom and the worst QP team in a generation when he arrived. By the time he’d left, we’d been in the promotion playoff places twice, winning one, a national semi-final, and finishing in our highest position in a generation. Going from our lowest point to our highest point in a relatively short period of time was a remarkable achievement.

As with any QP team that is promoted, any season staying in the league above is an achievement and we’ll inevitably come back down. Doesn’t matter who the manager is. If the next guy gets us up and stays, the inevitability will be the same within a couple of seasons.

We’ve been left with what looks a pretty solid squad that, just the other week, saw off the Welsh champions. He’s left us in a stronger position than he found us in and we’ve had some great memories during a tenure where we’ve punched above the weight of the squads we’ve had. Any promotion winning manager is a club legend in my book and he goes with my best wishes. I’ve said for a while that the job he’s done won’t be fully appreciated until a while after he’s gone.

As for the successor, you’d have to think that Roberts is in the driving seat assuming he stays and takes the team on a caretaker basis. If he does well, it’ll be hard not to appoint him. That being said, I’m glad we’re taking applications and making sure we get a proper look at who is interested.

I expect names like Barry Smith, Mark Wilson, Jim Duffy, although his stock is probably high enough for full-time, will be the sort of names linked. No problem with us taking our time on this one. This isn’t just this season, it’s about recruitment next summer and probable upheaval beyond that. If MacPherson’s appointment was important in 2015, this is even more so.

There is no doubt that Gus will be missed by many of the faithfull and An86 has given a very fair and accurate account of Gus' tenure with us. I wish him well in his new post to which I think he is well suited. However, I think where we will miss Gus most is in his recruitment skills. He has found some good players from the masses of hopefuls available during the past few seasons. I do think we should be able to find a capable coach on the playing side to develop the current promising squad. My personal choice would be Jim Duffy for whom I have a lot of respect but think it would be unfair to write off Mark Roberts. I dont think he arrived at our doorstep by accident.

Anytime we have played queens park under McPherson they have for the most been very organised and a real difficult team to breakdown , very good on the break , think that is what you will miss the most don't particularly like him miserable sod , but you can't fault his record with queens park .Always difficult When selecting a new manager has to suite the club structure interesting times for queens park

Gus never hid his ambition to return to working with a full-time team and when his QP team got relegated the writing was on the wall. I always held the view he would go on his terms at a time of his choosing. No surprise at all he’s returned to Love Street. Expect others to follow.

His highlight for me was a mid-table finish in tier 3 and for a short period a vain hope we might even make the play-offs. Good times. My abiding memory however will be of a man who specialises in not losing. Maybe this is why St Mirren want him as their strategist for football matters. Saints fans already sharing concern that he might encroach the dug-out. Maybe not physically but his philosophy on the game certainly will.

I’m only interested in Queen’s Park. Exciting times off the park with a great opportunity to drive our future. No danger of LL football. Onwards and upwards. Cuffing the league leaders is a great place to start.

Glad Gus has gone as he had taken us as far as he could but i sincerely hope that he does well in his new role at St. Mirren because there were plenty of highlights during his time at QP.

Btw, if you are reading this Gus, can you please take Gregor Fotheringham with you?

Well guys Gus has left what are our thoughts regarding our new manager. Do we think our club will go for an experienced manager or give someone younger a try. Been quite impressed by Mark Roberts so far.  Some of the names mentioned don't inspire me but you never know who our board will pick.

Jim Duffy, Mark Wilson, Lee McCulloch, Mark Roberts, David McCallum, Barry Ferguson, Jim Chapman,  to name of few.

Obviously the club don't want to be dragged into the relegation places of League two and an awkward play off so do we think we will go the experience root to try and avoid this scenario.

It will be an interesting couple of weeks!!!

8 point lead over Albion Rovers, if you guys end up in the relegation play-off this season I will eat my QP shirt on a livestream.
