According to the reliable Cowden support , the Cove players lost the plot at the start of the second half.  Considering the fracas started in the 90th minute I would say there is spoofing on both sides.

You know the reason he is so preoccupied with Cowden and play offs:

Cowden 0 Brechin City 0 (Scorers Mbu , Wardlaw (2))

Brechin City 0 Cowden 3 Cowden promoted to First Division

Saw Toorie on Saturday and gave him a huge hug (Cowden 2 Brechin City 1 last day of season -  Cowden promoted instead of Brechin with Toorie scoring the winner.

No wonder the Hedge is pissed off with Cowden.   Probably thinks Brechin were cheated.

Quote

Mathieson reckons the odds are heavily stacked against a Highland League club being promoted, and added: “It’s going to be very difficult thing for a club from the north to do it, but we will all keep trying.

“Even when we arrived at the ground on Saturday we felt that the odds were against us, especially we watched how the officials interacted with their players.

Quote

“There was a great photo in one of the Sunday newspapers of the big Cowdenbeath striker pulling our goalkeeper Stuart McKenzie to the ground, and he also held him down with his legs as well. There were four officials there and unbelievably none of them saw it.”

  If anybody can find me this picture of Sheerin HOLDING down the keeper then I'd be very grateful.

Problem with those pictures is they prove absolutely nothing.

correct

The bottom line is that Cove Rangers failed to score a single goal against Cowden on their home turf - despite a lot of triumphalistic crap beforehand - and at Central Park their lumbering defence couldn't cope with Cowden's change of tactics after half time. Once Cowden played football on the deck and took the game to Cove,  the visitors' weaknesses were exposed.

That is why Cove Rangers lost the tie.

John Sheran's conspiracy theory rant on BBC after the game was cringeworthy.  It's worth listening to it on iPlayer.  He embarrassed himself and his club. According to Sheran, Cove lost because for years referees have been biassed against highland clubs. Deary me.

His team lost because over the two legs they weren't good enough. All the rest is bluster.

Moaning about pictures again, aye? They did this a couple o’ seasons back when they failed to win at Fraserburgh and complained about a disallowed goal, citing photographic evidence of the ball crossing the line as proof the referees were out to get them.

This was the photo...

Was it a foul on the keeper? It looked very much like it but Sheerin was very clever as he tried to make it look like an accidental collision - which worked. These things happen in football and you have to get on with it. To then start saying the penalty was soft (it wasn’t soft at all) and the free kick that led to our second was a terrible decision just comes across like sour grapes.

Cove allowed the situation to develop as such that a controversial decision put us in front. They are angry at themselves and venting at the officials as they know they shouldn’t have been in that situation. To be dominating for 3/4 halfs of a game and only be level isn’t the ref’s fault.

Their moaning has been brilliant and I could use their salty tears as lubricant. Get it right up them.

The ball was either about to, or had just, hit the post and was coming back out.

Sheran lost his load after the game, blaming the officials for the result (a draw) in an attempt to deflect from the fact his side had - for the seventh time in a row - failed to beat Fraserburgh. Pretty much exactly the same approach he adopted on the weekend.
