There’s been no hint whatsoever that he’s coming or going and he’s the one player I’m desperate for us to keep. He’s late 30s, got one more season in him probably and as you say, would like to get back home. He’s become a figure of ridicule but taking that away he’s had a solid career and being a mainstay in a side that got to the playoff final says that he’s still got something to offer at this level. It did include almost all of the best bits of last season though. Get close to a full season out of him and he should be 16/17 league goals. Get a better team around him serving up chances and he could get to 20 goals. Let's hope he signs on the dotted line. Lawrence Shankland decided to stay an extra year with Ayr in 2018-19 when he was 22 and would have been offered more money to go elsewhere. During that extra year with Ayr, Shankland scored 34 goals and went on the following year to excel in the Premier League with another club and to eventually play for Scotland. I'd agree with this as despite me wanting McInroy to stay and also acknowledging that he scored some very big goals for us, I think he's being built up to be better than he actually is. Did we control games from the middle of the park ? I'd say not, did he drift out of games quite often ? I'd say definitely. Were his deliveries from set pieces as good as you'd expect ? Again I'd say not. Maybe I'm expecting too much from the current generation of footballers but McInroy while "good" isn't what I'd call "great" or someone who makes or breaks your season and he most definitely lacks the pace required to make it at a high level in the modern game.
