Still at a loss as to who we could get to replace Jim Duffy & co.   Who could do anything with the current squad?

What about that guy who was managing against us this afternoon? He looks alright and was available.

Let's not kid ourselves on that Jim Duffy, as nice a guy as he comes across as, is getting 110% out of that squad, either individually or collectively.

From Smiths interview when Hopkin left, a couple of big names were interested but not long term and he wanted someone to be here beyond the end of the season.
So he appointed Duffy until the end of the season. One of the criticisms of Hughes is that he is good in the first year.
Right now, we need someone who is good in the first year because we are rancid and are getting worse. Dunfermline hadn’t won a game all season 3 weeks ago and they are now above us in the league.
We need someone that is going to lift the club and motivate some of the players that badly need it.

2 games, 7 goals against and zero shots on target. At this rate, Anyone looks better than we currently have

When Duffy was appointed and in his first few games made what appeared to be glaring obvious corrections and got results I said the job was his to lose. Well, he's lost it. Selections, tactics, performances all gone backwards. I hope for the owner's sake that the cheap option was very, very cheap, because fixing this debacle is going to be very, very expensive.

I have my fingers crossed that Duffy is gone after our humiliating defeat to Albion Rovers.

Brian Reid a shout for Ayr Manager again?

You are kidding yourself I’m afraid.  The squad is terrible.  Hopkin signed about a dozen players in the Summer and somehow managed to not fix any of the problems he inherited from Kerr while introducing any number of new problems.  I don’t see any manager changing much with that group of players.  We’re basically limping towards the promised land of the January transfer window knowing we’ll just end up with a couple of young boys on loan from whoever.

The only crumb of comfort is that Accies, Queens and Morton all lost as well.  The 4 of us can slug it out to see who is the least shite.

Brian Reid's specialist subject is more assuredly not "keeping Ayr in the second tier after Christmas".

Reid was a fluke anyway, as was McCall. Every other manager for over two decades has been a failure. Fully expect the replacement will either be Moffat or Peter Grant.

No. Unless he walks of course.

Yogi Hughes was apparently interested, but wanted the club to rollout the red carpet for him and didn't bother applying through the proper channels. If he really wanted the job, he should have applied.

The job wasn’t even advertised.  No applications were invited.  There was no recruitment process.  If our board were interested in Hughes and didn’t even approach him, then it’s on them.

That will only last so long, we haven’t looked like scoring in weeks and amazingly we have went downhill since McGinty was dropped.

Missed out on him so wondered who we could get now.  Many on here thought Dunfermline would improve once they got a decent manager as they had a decent squad.  No faith at all that we have a squad that can keep us up this year.
