The situation we are in just now has nothing at all to do with Kerr.

I sort of Agree, though he did leave Ayr in a position where a new manager was needed.

Appointing Hopkin and watching him sign players from Morton  and expecting results was a f*cking joke. Hopkin f*cked off and was replaced with someone already under contract at the club.

Lot of silence, poor communication and broken promises made by the club, hidden behind the hype of a, let's face it, hub we should have had thirty years ago.

Piss times to be an Ayr fan.

What we have just now is a chairman who is learning on the job. We've had a high level of off-field staff turnover since he came in, higher than I can remember at any time previously over a pretty short period of time. There has been a massive loss of intellectual knowledge that can't be regained overnight.

Hopkin obviously sensed the naivety and took him for a ride. We don't know what conversations went on off the park, and what tales of grandeur Hopkin spun. I don't think it is unfair to say Smith is out of his depth at present.

It feels like sink or swim at present, he could really do with an experienced board member (LC as a non-executive maybe or someone to pick the phone up to for advice?) or a DoF whilst he learns the ropes. There is no shame in asking for advice, but people normally wait too long.

He is probably well aware of how the recent Falkirk Q&A went down, so is probably trying to be as far away from hosting one as possible. Yet, this is probably the type of event that could clear the air and buy time if handled well. For example, McCall when he arrived, he wasn't sugar coating but also gave an air of optimism. Duffy is often on the radio so is clearly media trained to an extent, he should be able to handle that type of thing.

By no way am I defending what is going on, I just feel like the club is going through a bigger crisis than I have known previously with an inexperienced chairman. It's a tough gig where mistake will be made, but we need to be shown lessons are being learned to buy goodwill.

On Saturday I brought down a QotS supporting friend and we met with one who supports Partick afterwards. They both thought for weeks I had been exaggerating how far we've regressed. They were both genuinely stunned at the performance, saying it was one of the poorest they've ever seen.

I think that will be a feature of the current regime.

Is the lack of comms not because there's no Commercial Director atm since Graeme Miller left. As for Kerr I think we all liked him but surely he was just out of his depth, especially since it was just him and McArdle running things. Really should have had another experienced coach with him from the start

I'm sure although Lachlan sold his majority stake and resigned as a director from the AUFA that he is still a director of the club itself. I imagine he'll be available to offer advice but that he'll take a backseat on decisions about managers etc. as he won't want to appear to be interfering and undermining Smith and will trust they are making decision based on being around the club more than he possibly can.

Since Cameron and Kerr left, the communication has been almost zero. The website doesn’t work and twitter updates are pointless unless you need to remember to place your honest men picks or you want an update on the Hub.

when we have made signings, the twitter update is normally after the club the player left, the player and the voice of reason have already tweeted about the move.
Managers interviews have been pre and post match only.

The news about season tickets and strips had to be hauled out of the club in the summer.

The hub is an asset to the club and it is great that it is being built. But fans want updates on what is being done to upgrade the rancid team and results currently rather than the offices and shop.

Statement:

The club have acquired a new fire extinguisher for THE SOMERSET HUB.

There is a post on the SRE this evening with someone claiming both they and their 6 year old were escorted out 10mins from time. Apparently the reason for it was they were standing next to the accessible enclosure talking to people and their carers, and rather than asking them to move away they were punted out.

Surely not. If that's true we are even more of a shambles off the field than I imagined.

It's not all doom and gloom. Ayr united have a future ahead of them, whatever league they may be. My son is 6 years old and is Ayr United daft (I wouldn't have it any other way! 😊) His ambitions are very clear.

I filmed him scoring a belter from the midfield at his football game. Takes it past the whole team to score. They call him the 'Ginger Assassin' 😂. After the game he comes over to tell me that 'In ten years time dad, I'm going to do that every week for Ayr!'

I was welling up nearly crying, mega proud daddy here 🥲

So let's wait and see what happens 😊 we, as Ayr United fans, have dreams of success and glory, like every footballing fan does. Things aren't great just now, but it can only get better in time.

I’d give him a game at East End Park.

I would take that with a pinch of salt ,
