"regress to the mean" jesus christ Ayr is in the top dozen settlements in Scotland by population and there is literally a single other professional team in a thirty-mile radius. Ayr have punched desperately below their weight for most of the last 40 years. Make excuses all you want but "it's only natural" absolutely cannot be one of them.

But but but remember where we were 5 years ago.

Like it or not, nudging 1000 - 1500 fans for a home game tells another story as to why we are where we are. You dream away all you like.

What's your basis for the above? I've not heard that from any Arbroath or Morton fans wanting to swap for our squad.

I'd absolutely swap squads, even without Smith. For all you've been bemoaning your options at centre forward, look at the state of ours. There've been frequent complaints about how terrible Jack Baird has been for you - he's been the second best of the eight centre backs Hopkin signed over his 18 months in charge of us. Even at that the only who's been better in Ledger, by virtue of being an unspectacular 7/10 every week, didn't play a single game at centre back until after Hopkin left because we had no right back. While we have good central midfield options, there's a drop off to players far worse than Chalmers, Miller or an out of position Muirhead; we still had to resort to putting Cameron Blues on the pitch on Saturday.

You have all this quality squad building to look forward to in the summer.

Hoppy said that we had tried to go for another keeper before PJ but it didn't work out.
Expect Celtic probably knocked us back on Doohan again for some reason
They maybe don't fancy sending him to us now that we have a habit of punting our loan players back shortly after arriving

Happily bite your hand off for it.

Ours is considerably worse.

Don’t worry, we’ll probably take some of your jobbers next season. Presuming they had a decent relationship with Hoppy

The thing is I’m really happy with our squad and team just now. Although Bobby Linn being injured is a massive miss.... I just wish we had Williamson and Hamilton at the start of the season. Look at the difference in results since we got those 2. If we had them from the start of the season I think we’d be in a better position. We only got 5 points from the first 9 games.

what is still baffling is there is still Ayr fans that think slow joe is a good player. He has not had one good game from Ayr. The contribution from barjonas yesterday who probably isn’t 100% fit was far better than anything chalmers has done. We need to get something out of the next 3 games and unfortunately playing joe just isn’t the answer.

It's Sleepy Joe surely?

they wouldn't dare schedule it surely.

Think information will come out next week , only a couple of clubs have opened voting so far , no matter how any team has  performed they will all still have POTY

That's precisely the fucking point. There is no "natural norm" here to regress to. Ayr do not "deserve" to have gates of 1000 any more than Hamilton do, and Hamilton have been an absolute pile of garbage wedged into the relegation zone of the SPL for the last 15 years like a tampon in an airplane toilet.

The "mean" being referenced here is not some natural order: it's the 1978 zone of the mid-00s that Ayr fans for a generation have erroneously considered themselves to belong in after DL fucked everything up.
