The Ultimate Super Ayr Thread

I don't like change and neither do most people which, coupled with nostalgia, is why probably the majority will still prefer the old badge as it's all they knew for most of their Ayr supporting lives. Having had the new badge now for a good few years, I genuinely prefer and like it better as well. It's definitely a nicer badge.

Think the nostalgia will depend on the age of the supporter as my first Ayr game was early Seventies and would have been at a time when we didn’t have a badge on the strip (like I think most teams) or there was AUFC in a diagonal script which was popular at the time. Here’s our Panini stickers from I think 1978 which shows how it looked. There must have been a serious shortage of barbers in Ayr in the Seventies…

In case anyone hasn’t come across the site before the historical kits website is an interesting place to spend a bit of time. Here’s our entry:

For what it’s worth I’m another older fan who prefers the new badge.

It is, though there are some inaccuracies. Those late 70s and early 80s strips didn't have sharing for a start.

With regard to the badge I prefer the old one, but I'm not hung up about it.

My pal has sent me a poem.

"You inspire me to be better your name has many letter
You look so good in white and black
Next season we will welcome you back
You make my tender body shiver
When you make that silky net quiver
You’re going to set my world alight
When it’s your time to shine on a Friday night
People might think I’m a creepo
But I have everlasting love for Dipo"

Would lord Lyons go aff his nut if the old badge was used on the retro kits?

I mean, no matter how you look at it, that badge was used and there's no changing it.

Club can't profit from that badge afaik
