I honestly don't think any of us are crying over Baird and Muirhead leaving as McGinty, Musonda and Kirk are more than enough cover for those positions.

As for the issues with Bangala, that would seem a bit of a smokescreen as there's not even any guarantee that he'd be a starter given that we have Dempsey and Murdoch already there and early signs are that McAlister might be good enough to hold down RB as his own.

The one thing I think that we can ALL agree on, is that we desperately need a goalscorer and a creative Midfielder certainly wouldn't go amiss either.

Dipo might not be everyone's cup of tea, however if he was to pick up an injury or suspension then we'd basically be left with one raw 18 year old up top (who's also likely to be suspended soon) and an emergency striker who looks like finishing is far from his natural game.

Money simply can't be an issue as our squad is MUCH smaller than last year and we've also offloaded some of our biggest earners, over and above that we apparently had a budget to sign Sibbald and at least one other, so basically I'm just hoping (like everyone else) that this report is way off the mark.....

It's not about the individuals, its about the numbers and the experience. If we go in to September with 3 CH's and McGinty or Musonda get injured then we have an issue, we would be relying on a 19 year old with no experience or Nick McCallister to cover. There is also no competition for places there.

Our midfield is flat and barely breaks the centre circle due to the type of players they are, we knew that when they signed and we need to bring in a player to compliment them like Crawford or Allan, Bangala is a defensive midfielder who has scored one senior goal.

I don't think money is the issue to getting some of the players rumoured, location and agreeing to the clubs vision may be the issue. Asking players to travel to Alloway every day from the central belt or beyond and then wanting them to tour schools and youth groups in the afternoons after training extends their days beyond that of most clubs.

Training in Glasgow or even Cumnock 3 days a week with one day in Ayr might be more attractive to players, McCall managed to attract guys when we trained at a rugby club in Glasgow. Reid had us training at Toryglen and got players in.

I understand building a local identity and community spirit might in theory build a better support but it may also hinder the players we can attract short term.

I think Muirhead is a loss, but seems like he was desperate to rejoin Ian McCall, so not sure that one was really about money.  In general, it just seems like the player market is absolutely dead in Scotland.  Raith, Morton, Accies and Arbroath all look very light up front as well.  My best guess is that we are now looking to the loan market.

I cannot fathom why we’d even consider signing another defender. Our defence isn’t amazing but if we get relegated this season it won’t have been the reason.

I think Bullen knows that our strikers are obviously very short on confidence and him coming out and constantly saying we need a striker will do them no good. A winger I can see the point in, especially if we’re playing 4-4-2. Means we can allow our two central players to sit deeper and fill in spaces whilst our two strikers and wide players go and attack.

It's about priorities though as realistically we can't be carrying a squad with 2 or 3 quality subs in each position.

You talk about cover for defence if one or two are missing, however at the moment we have no first team starters in attacking Midfield in the entire squad and only 1 experienced striker, as such, that's just GOT to be our priority positions.

Looking at the current state of play there seems to be a real shortage of strikers out there. Not sure if it's the same story with any other positions. Perhaps the realistic options are a youth from the league above or another gem from the London boroughs. Perhaps nothing is imminent and a bit of stage management happening. The goals to game ratio particularly at home can't be ignored though and he will surely know the consequences of not signing a goal scorer.

Unless Bullen is wanting to try this 3 at the back again

There’s always a shortage of strikers. Good ones anyway. You either pay over the odds for someone that’s a proven quantity, take a gamble with a nobody or bring in a 18 year old loanee. We don’t have the money to do the first which is why we won’t sign Rooney. I’m quite sure we could go out tomorrow and sign one of the other two but Bullen doesn’t want that. We’ve got enough players in the squad who will have to get used to this league. We need someone that can make an impact.

I think we're all perfectly within our rights to be concerned / annoyed about this given that we're now heading into the 2nd league game of the season where we've scored only 1 goal in over 6 hours of Football and that was against lower league opposition.

The object of football is to put the ball in the net, entertain the supporters and ultimately win games, so without the basic tools to do this, then it's easy to see why people are being critical.

Most of us have watched all these matches and it's abundantly clear that without any dead ball specialist, playmaker and goalscorer that we're going to end up in trouble sooner or later and it's also going to be a rather grim watch !!

From what i gather there is a shortage of strikers full stop. Without looking far Arbroath seemed to have exactly the same problem on Saturday and it's unusual to see two sides who looked as tame in front of goal. Lets hope there is some decent budget set aside as could be another bunfight with our peers in a limited market

I am highlighting how bad a window we could potentially have on our hands here, the players out the door, the experienced cover that has left to other clubs in the division.

The fact we are a week in to the season and are still missing at least 3 starters from the first team and with a bench that would make you wince if we were a goal down chasing the game is alarming.

I liked the look of Chalmers at ICT last year and thought he would of been in and about the United 1st team this season however was he not more of a winger than a central forward?

I guess him buzzing about off Dipo could maybe work.

He's on the bench for United tonight.

Does Bully know of any promising U23 strikers at Wednesday we could maybe get on loan ?

What about Burnley and our tie up ??

He’s on the bench tonight and so as a squad member I doubt he’ll be sent out on loan.
