Completely unrelated, but where's the good spots to eat/takeaways in ayr?

Headed to Craig Tara for a week soon with the kids.

Also f**k Kilmarnock.

Thank you.

Dundee fan living in Ayr.

For eating in, I like The Fox and the Willow, @home Thai, Ayr India.

Willie Wastles is decent for cheapish food and Tempura is good.

Plenty takeaways around the place as others have mentioned.

There are also some decent Indian restaurants in the town. Ayr India isn't bad and The 3 Idiots is very good. Not so sure about the Ruppee Room these days. For Italian food Cecchini's is the place.

Ayr is not as bad as some people make out , coming into Doonfoot from Craig Tara you have a couple of good takeaways at the Co op on your left , chippy/pizza and Indian , both decent . Next up a few hundred metres is the Balgarth Pines , great beer garden, good food . On the bridge just along the road is the Secret Garden , good snacks and  lunches , got a cracking deck over the River Doon . Push on about a mile and you have the Chestnuts Hotel , very good food and beer garden , few hundred metres from Ayr Beach . Nearby The Chestnuts is the Fox and Willow , great food , best beer garden in town

Very unusual that the stretch between where all the rich people stay and the completely dead town centre is still nice. I am very smart.

I heard similar stories about both.

Ah, the Magnum. That's a blast from the past!

It was brilliant until they got rid of all the fun things about it and then it was just another pool.

TBH The Citadel's best days are behind it. A new leisure centre in the town centre would have been great.

Totally agree, incredibly short sighted by the Tory regime and friends

I take it the proposed new leisure centre was going to be where the empty mall is?

The Kyle Centre, aye. f**k knows what they’ll do with it now that it’s just lying empty.

No the leisure centre was to be where Hourstons and the Arran Mall was, previous regime punted all the tennants out of Arran Mall so it's now empty too.

The Kyle Centre was supposed to be run by a private company but no doubt that'll have gone pear shaped with the financial situation

Actually the pool was to be the Arran Mall and Hourstons They chucked all the shops out
Kyle Centre was to.be a cinema and food outlets

Aye that’s the one. As you say the developments will probably never happen with the Kyle Centre now either so you’re left with two huge spaces being used as nothing. Couldn’t even tell you the last time I used the Arran Mall as anything else other than using it to cut onto the high street from that car park.

I think the issue with the town centre leisure centre was that they were basically proposing to build a much shitter version of the citadel, with far less facilities.

This and no parking either

Mind that time Ayr were denied permission for a new stadium with adjacent shopping centre because it would take business away from the town centre?

Kicked into touch by a Rangers daft leader of the council, worryingly we now have a Rangers/Stranraer supporting Tory Council leader, who's Scottish born and bred son kicks about in an England top, let's hope our beloved local Scottish, non bigot club doesn't suffer as before.......if they do Bob Shields should hang his head in shame

See, having a leisure centre, cinema and food outlets in the High Street would have been a fantastic idea.

Trust those jumped up pen pushers at the Council to shite on a good idea.

The new one was a white elephant, a waste of money and the work of Satan himself according to the new council.
