Inflation is a real hing. I think that's what Diego was referencing.

I expect its a combination of inflation hitting and benchmarking. The season ticket is up c.9.6% and inflation is at least 7% right now.

I'm not denying that inflation has hit football clubs like it's hit everyone else. I'm saying that the honest answer is that football clubs' gates are probably arbitrary as soon as you have gates in excess of about 100 and so it's refreshing for the club not to pretend that this is some measure forced upon them by the economy.

Thought the Mathie interview was quarter of an hour of my life I'll never get back. It had a little of the ugly self-congratulary tone that the club seems to have adopted of late and didn't really offer anything of substance to either discuss or get excited about. The primary message seemed to be that they want more income. Felt like a box-checking exercise more than anything else.

That said, it was probably a no-win situation. Unless they included a new signing exclusive or gave a substantive update on negotiations there wasn't much to say. He tried to get out ahead of the inevitable backlash on rising prices, which is fair enough. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I wonder if McAllister will come back in as a much better player this season. He didn't get any pre season last year and when he finally did play he was thrown into a team that was crumbling and devoid of any collective confidence.

I might regret this but i think he'll do okay this season.

Times are hard and will get much much worse over the next few years, however we were only charging £18 last season when the majority of our peers were charging £20, so all in all I do think as a club that we had to increase if we wished to compete on a level playing field.

It's not ideal of course but there's no ideal solution unfortunately and we do give good discounts to our concessions so I think the club is just doing what it has to really as opposed to trying to fleece anyone.

Prices are rising everywhere and if the club want to try and stay competitive sadly they need to do it as well, what they need to do is try and make that season ticket the best value for money possible with incentives like being able to pre order kits before non season ticket holders, player or an evening events at Cameron's Bar for season tickets holders only things like that, I'm not a season ticket holder and because I work some weekends it's not feasible for me to be one but the club need to be looking after the the folk that are dropping almost £300 in one go.

The best way to make a season ticket best value for money is getting the right team on the park. The other stuff is just gimmicky stuff that doesn’t matter to a lot of season ticket holders (obviously will to some people).

I found that strange that Ayr only charged £18 for the two Killie games, it would still have been two sellouts if you changed £20, £12000 lost out on from the away support then add ur own support.

I see this guy has started following the club on Twitter. Quick google says he’s a defender and he also claims to be an international for Equatorial Guinea but no idea how many caps.

Reading an article on him, he suffered mental health issues after being released by West Ham, played for towns in England I didn’t know existed, was on trial in Romania and Croatia before playing for Biggleswade Town.

Not a good CV but certainly an interesting one.

Did notice that the last week but a quick check of who he's following would suggest he followed pretty much every team in England and Scotland at the same time. More likely he's about to be a free agent and hoping some club follows him back so he can ask for a trial.

Someone else mentioned this guy after he followed Montrose on Twitter. Seems like he’s using his creative license when he claims to have come through the youth system at West Ham and was on the verge of the first team before being released tbh and can’t find anything to suggest he was capped internationally either.

Does anyone remember the "Nigerian international" we were on the verge of signing in 2003/04?

His name was Sammy Taubman. He was apparently a "free kick specialist" who played for Fortuna Dusseldorf and was capped 6 times for Nigeria. However, there is no record of him having played at all.
