Another interesting appointment where you really have no idea how this is going to go. On one hand it's a well regarded coach with a pedigree at a decent level and you can hope that's enough experience to be ready to step up. On the other, there's a long list of highly rated coaches who haven't succeeded as managers and when someone's only making the step up when they're already in their fifties you wonder why they haven't taken a job sooner. That latter point could be spun as a good thing in waiting for the right job to come along rather than rushing into any old job they could get - uprooting to Ayr after so long in Sheffield could support that in suggesting he's seriously buying into a long term project - or a bad thing in giving Brian Rice vibes of someone who's never actually been that interested in being manager giving it a go for the sake of it.

Still, much like Morton and Falkirk fans were saying for their appointments, when you look at the typical merry go round names a gamble on a left field appointment has to be preferable to getting Canning, Rice or Kettlewell.

Maybe waiting on the contract of back room staff and hopefully a player or two

He’s had the pictures taken. They could put out a tweet with a picture.

The Record might have first dibs but surely the club hasn't granted them exclusive first access above and beyond themselves. That would be extraordinarily tinpot.

Would like the club bin deal the Daily Record/Ayrshire post for rights to stories first . Get it out to fans on webpage or social media.

Normally I'd be sceptical about a first time manager coming in to a team in your position. But I think Bullen is an absolutely terrific appointment for you boys. No chance he's leaving a nice gig at a club where he's worshipped to try his hand at Ayr if he hasn't been promised some backing either.

He should be a monumental upgrade on Duffy and Hopkin.

Those pics are up on SNS' website by the way.

Being a Wednesday and an Ayr fan this is ideal for me. Seen load of Wednesday folk on twitter saying that they will be taking an interest in Ayr from now on. Ayr need to take advantage of that if possible in some way.
