Optimistic thinking that he’d be signed as a McGinty replacement. We’ll end up signing him and letting Muirhead go to Partick.

This would not surprise me. Muirhead looked absolutely scunnert today.

It feels like Duffy going “aye, I got a tune out of him a few years ago” and taking it on like some sort of personal project, completely ignoring everything that’s happened since then.

Did you not look into Duffys transfer history after he was hired?

He regularly destroys clubs with his bizarre insistence on signing scrapheap players and trying to improve them rather than actually signing the best players he can get. If he gets next season in charge then you'll get no signings until early August as he'll just wait for the release trials to be held so he can sign the dregs.

We literally hired David Hopkin. I think it's fair to assume we don't look too deeply into trivial matters such as a prospective managers transfer history.

I know people will be preparing to be let down but I'd be honestly amazed if we keep Duffy on after this season. I reckon he could get us into the playoffs and we'd still need to make a change.

McGinty hammered everything that came to him as hard as he could today, even under no pressure he just lumped the ball away from himself as hard as he could. He's obviously on confidence at all.

Afolabi doesn't know where is first touch is landing, how he is rated at Celtic I have no idea. O'Conner was lively but has pretty poor. Salkeld shat out a 60/40 in his favour and almost cost us a goal. So many players look like they lack confidence yet it has never improved since the start of the season.

We have a coach that specialises in mental health of players but it is hard to see any motivation or improvement in body language or performances.

Heard McCall offered O ware as part of a deal during the window for Muirhead to Thistle

however Hopkin knocked it back apparently?

Still wouldn't be at all surprised to see Muirhead go to Thistle in January tbh, along with Stephen Kelly, however McCall has lost his best pal in Gary McCallister as a contact with them now.

Duffy hasn’t changed the style since he started, he’s obviously trying to bring in players to make it work rather than try and make something else work with the players he’s got.

You’d think a guy who had been over the course as many times as Duffy would have worked out how to adapt but he’s really struggling

He maybe already knows he's only here until the summer so the task for January is short team 'cross our fingers' they'll improve us enough to shitfest our way across the line to 8th. Still think we do have enough options in attack to win enough games if we could just get a fucking creative central midfielder in, instead of having a non existant midfield with no grit to break the game up or creativity going forward.

The idea of the management team thinking, ah we'll just try to see the season through cause we're likely away in the summer, gives me the fear about their commitment to making decent signings in January. Doesn't help the feeling I already have that we're a good bet to go down.

I meant more that being the boards viewpoint but aye....

All depends what the manager plan is but we don't know, why? oh yes because we have a club with ZERO communication to its fans about on field plans

Salkeld shouldn't get near the team. He is the very definition of useless, other than the Dunfermline game he has contributed absolutely nothing.

Correct. Duffy’s transfer dealings at Dumbarton were absolutely apalling. Some of the guff we signed during his tenure was genuinely mind boggling. I always enjoy the tranfer windows as you get a bit of excitement with the comings and goings but under Duffy jt was the most depressing part of the season. The laziest, most uninspiring manager we’ve ever had when it comes to signing players, his contact list extends to the exit trials and guys he’s worked with in the past. Everything was done at the last minute as well which was massively frustrating.

Another thing to note is that he is so out of touch with what to offer the modern player in terms of money. When he took over he inherited a really good squad for our level, almost every single one of them left the following summer because Duffy offered them peanuts. The only reason we were able to retain two of them is because our sponsors stepped in to make up the shortfall in the wages he was offering. It wasn’t budget related either, supporters set up a management fund to fund a better quality of signing which had thousands in it and Duffy refused to touch it.

I hope for Ayr’s sake he keeps you up and gets to f**k, never ever trust Jim Duffy with summer squad building and if he is kept on then prepare yourself for a depressing summer of disappointment.

This is sounding ominous. Duffman is already hanging by a thread for me as it is. We need to do some proper business in January if we are to stay up. Thoroughly depressing.

Aye and won by an Albion fan. I've been buying those tickets about 20 years and never won anything on it. Gutted 😔
