My optimism-o-meter needs a rest and some sunshine.

Been a helluva season troops.

Killie in ťhe Betfred anyone?

Killie won't participate in the group stages. The top 4 in the  Premier enter at the knockout stages.

hearing that's yer man Shankland away then lads.
Rangers seemingly
Hope he's more ambition that that, hope he goes to a half decent championship team down south and makes a name for himself, can't see slippy G playing Shankland upfront and he'd be wasted sitting on the bench or playing for the reserves at Ibrox

As RedEd says, the top 4 get into Europe.
Scotland gets 4 places in Europe, which go to the top 3 in the league plus the Scottish Cup winners.

If the Scottish Cup winners have already qualified for Europe through the league then their spot goes to 4th place in the league.

So if Hearts win the cup and Killie finish 4th then Killie would not be in Europe and would be participating in the Betfred Cup group stage.

We've known that Shankland, Smith & Rose were away for months now.

Realistically we were never going to hold on to any of them and they all leave with our best wishes, except if and when they come up against us in the future !!

With the two part time sides of Alloa & Arbroath in the league we would realistically be expected to finish above them and of course both QOS and Morton have similar budgets to ourselves so again we should be hoping / expecting to finish above them also.

Apart from the players mentioned, we have also re-signed the majority of our squad from last season and will of course have funds in place to bring in replacements for those leaving, so all in all we should be aiming once again for the play offs as an attainable target.

Would fancy our chances of making the playoffs again as reading between the lines of the Dunfermline chairman's statement on their website they aren't far off getting the buckets out again.

Yes, I think there's a few clubs who have overstretched themselves with regards size of pool and players wages.

Touch wood, but we seem to have the balance just about right and despite the abuse that he gets from time to time, Lachlan Cameron has done an excellent job of steadying the ship financially and at the same time keeping us competitive.

Hopefully we can add a few hundred additional season tickets for next season and consolidate with an achievable target of around 1,800 - 2,000 home fans for every match.

is this the @EdiBairn of the Ayr thread?

No idea who that is.

just know Shankland has already said that playing time is the most important factor for him when picking his next destination and there’s no way he’d be first pick at Ibrox.

Get a feeling it'll be English League 1 if Sunderland stay down, where lets face it he should absolutely romp it.

Actually, I think Sunderland would be ideal for him. Should get enough  starts to continue to learn facing better defences in a side with a decent chance of going up to the English Championship. If he went to say Swansea, one of the names he was linked with, he'll find it more difficult. They already have Oliver McBurnie on their books .

If we wants to start every week top end League One is his best level, with every chance of proving himself further and going up. English Championship is a really competitive level - no reason he cannot play there but starting every week and keeping on learning should be his priority, which pleased to hear he and the people  around him realise.

Sunderland will be in the market for a striker in the Summer given that Will Grigg and Charlie Wyke are both misfiring badly at the moment. What a move that would be for him.

Will probably depend how they do in the Playoffs.

Assuming Morelos will be away, and considering that Defoe is ancient, I’d say he’d feature quite prominently for them.

I’d rather see him move down south and test himself in England, but I don’t think a move to the blue bigots is particularly unrealistic.
