He did

Nah he didn’t

He was no worse than Kerr tonight.

Crawford and Murdoch aren’t the same type of player so to try and compare Crawford to him based on what Murdoch does well is stupid. Crawford isn’t as good at winning the ball back but he carries it far better than Murdoch and plays better in tighter situations.

Kerr needs a terrier beside him not a ghost.

Kerr needs a terrier beside him not a ghost.

Kerr needs to look up before aimlessly passing the ball to no one.

Don’t get me wrong, I like Kerr but on Saturday I’d be playing Crawford and Murdoch in the middle with Miller on the left side and Geggan on the right.

Robbie Crawford is gash, best kept secret in Scottish football though.

Anthony Marenghi was gash. Crawford is good but wildly inconsistent.

Think he’d be more suited to a midfield 3 but you’d have to sacrifice Moffat for that.

Crawford is much better than his “haters” make out but it’s definitley a blind spot with McCall.

I didn’t think he really stood out above anyone on Friday night (he had a good enough game but not faultless) yet in the post-match interviews McCall singled him out for praise and had to make mention of him being “back to his best” and having a wonderful game (or words to those effect).

Having sat at the top of the pile for a few months there would be a massive outcry if we finished 5th. You know how fickle football fans are,, missing out on the playoffs would feel disappointing at this stage even though as you point out it has in reality been a great season for us. Most of us would have bitten your hand off for a finish in P5-8 this season back in July / August.
McCall has quite the job on his hands because even in 3rd place people are calling for his head.

One more point for guaranteed survival (alternatively, one more dropped point for both Falkirk and Alloa). I think we should take a moment to celebrate that if it happens at the weekend, before re-focusing for the playoff push. It's no mean feat.

Failing to make the Play-offs having been genuine Title Contenders going into March would be a complete failure, regardless of whether our pre-season aims have been achieved.

Absolute nonsense.

Pre-season aims exceeded = a successful season.  It will be a bit disappointing but the League is a marathon not a sprint, being a contender means absolutely nothing. Clubs with bigger budgets generally, on average, will outperform those with thinner weaker squads.

If we do indeed have the second smallest budget in the Division the Ayr finishing top half is outperforming.  They key will be if we can stay competitive in this League for a few years now in a row - that is more important to this Club's long term future than the outside chance of double promotion. That's not saying we shouldn't aspire to compete at the top of the Championship and go up, but we need to build firm foundations over being a flash in the pan.

Can't see that happening.

Ayr seem to absolutely love playing on TV, just from reading this thread it seems there best performances come when they're on the big screen, they had good performances against United, County and ourselves.

Auchinleck didn't happen.

Also lost to Falkirk on TV and the County game may have been an OK performance, but we lost the game.

Draw seemed a fair result last night . Ayr still losing far too many goals from our midfield area and in particular Crawford who seems to be unable to pick up any runners or challenge defensively . All good and well running about looking busy , knocking things on aimlessly , and this stopping suddenly before you have a to challenge or go into a 50/50 is becoming more noticeable . Stop the flailing arms , the gesticulating , the hands on the head and get against someone and do your job . Another goal conceded last night which could easily have been avoided . Frustrating to say the least .

No idea why Murdoch is playing in a wide area and we have a young lad who is naturally wide minded and who must be costing us money from Celtic sitting on the bench . If we don't need him or the other loan signing in Cadden send them back and lets get McCowan or Hilton on the bench . They're our own lads who wont cost a third of the cash and can just as easily sit on the bench and make cameo appearances similar to Miller and Cadden . Money saved and put it by for our challenge in staying in this league next season .
