Could be an issue if there's injuries, but otherwise reckon there's currently a decent core to the squad - McHale, Cooper, Bronsky, McHardy, McGowan, Wilson, Roberts, Omar, Cameron, O'Keefe. Hester - plus a couple of the younger lads will also be pushing for starting places, & doubtless there will be some additional new faces coming in over the coming weeks. All seems quiet on the Shane front though.

eThink there was a mention of an offer being made for Shane from Elgin but it did meet our valuation. Also mentioned interest from Cove & a enquiry about a loan deal from Stenhousmuir.

Blue Toon boss Jim McInally has said he expects the Granite City outfit to enter the race for Sutherland, with ex-club Elgin City having already made a bid and Stenhousemuir also interested.

Asking for change from a tenner doesn't really count as a bid. 😉

Club just about went to the wall a couple of times in last 20 years only to be bailed out by wealthy individuals. Kick in the teeth for them to spend money we ain’t got. Until we find a sugar daddy or Moray suddenly unearths oil, that’s the way it’s gonna be.

The Strathspey of 3 years ago were a far lesser proposition than the current set-up. Gordy Nicolson took over the managerial reins a bit into last season & since then has pretty much transformed the club's fortunes, with them coming  off comfortably their best ever SHFL showing last year, & with the majority of players already signed on for the coming season & beyond. They're well organised & got a reasonable bit of quality, but for Elgin's part they comfortably demonstrated the difference between mid-table SPFL2 & mid table SHFL.

One can't read too much into the result of a first pre-season game, but some positive signs in that pretty much all players looked fit & 'up for it'. All trialists looked decent with no makeweights like the chubby leftback that got signed a couple of season back  then loaned to the juniors just as quickly. Hopefully a few more good additions to come. Style of football was very much out from the back & passing the ball on the deck, with lots of short-sharp pass & move stuff in the right areas of the pitch. McDonald looks like he'll be a big addition at the back, & he & Bronsky looked like they have the makings of a decent pairing. O'Keefe's pace will terrify a lot of fullbacks this season. Soapy & Rabin in particular linked well in advance midfield positions & around the opposition box. Will be interesting to see how things develop against Rothes on Thursday, as they are definitely a step up from Strathspey, although having said that, the Jags did beat them once last season.

Turning into a right mess. Wish we hadn't signed him again.

What happens if he doesn't want to go to Cove but wants back to Elgin.

Can't see us accepting a lower offer from Elgin but might have to just to get rid.

If he does go to Cove the same situation will rise again when he sulks because he wants away (at least it will be Cove's problem).

In todays P&J that we accepted an offer from Cove but the player wants to stay local & turned the move down. Looks like he is being a twat, not sure what we paid for him but if Elgin or Lossie cant  come up with a bid for something like we paid we should play hardball with him & have him travel to train every week & turn up at games but stay on the bus until after the game or with hold his wages for the rest of his contract.
