Against a 10 man Kelty side (if I recall) who had player sent off early in the match.

Threave have history at chucking the towel in at this level.

I only hope they don't embarrass themselves score wise :unsure2:

Can't see anything apart from a Kelty win here. Was one of the 1400 in attendance yesterday, a thoroughly professional job done to seal the league under great pressure.

To have any chance, Threave need to copy the LTHV tactic of getting in their faces and applying pressure to the defence while in possession. There is a mistake or two in that backline if they are forced into bad decisions...

Kelty website confirms 1st leg is this Saturday (5th May) 3pm at Threave. Presume return the following Saturday (12th May) will be 2:30pm... though given it's under LL auspices I suppose it might be 3pm as well.

Even if it goes badly for them, Kelty could still finish the season on a high - they've a home draw in the King Cup SF on Friday 18th May, with the Final on Saturday 26th May.

Threave however are still in pursuit of multiple silverware - after the playoffs are done, they play the Potts Cup Final on Wednesday 16th May, then 48rs later the Tweedie Cup Final on Friday 18th May, and in the remainder of May will have to play-out the Haig Gordon Cup (in SFs) plus Cree Lodge Cup (in QFs).

Indeed the Castle Douglas men have already played 46 competitive games this season - with between 6 and 9 to come for a total of 52-55; and all this despite losing in Scottish Cup R1, South Challenge Cup QFs, Southern Counties Cup R2 and SOS League Cup R1! In contrast the Fifers have played 35 competitive games so far - with 3 or 4 to come for a total of 38/39; so substantially fewer.

Crazy number of games for threave.

I wonder if kelty would prefer a later k.o with Cowdenbeath starting early that day? Gives the possibility of neutrals doing both games(even if not the full game at both)? Obviously threave would need to agree to it

52 games at that level is absolutely mental, particularly with the number of postponements you get over winter. I've never understood the fascination in non-league football of playing loads of cups.

It's a particularly SOSL fetish... as well as the Scottish Cup, the South Challenge Cup and the Southern Counties Cup, they have FIVE internal tournaments: the SOS League Cup, the Cree Lodge Cup, the Haig Gordon Cup, the Potts Cup and the Tweedie Cup. (In comparison EOSL have only 2: the EOS League Cup and King Cup).

They do so many cups there's actually an Overall Championship the Detroit Trophy, combining results in the league and all those cup tournaments, plus the Southern Alternate Alba Cup (for non-Scottish Cup clubs) and the South + East of Scotland Cup-Winners Shield (which its winner contest for a place in the following Scottish Cup) that Threave don't enter.

With no midweek games in December-January, they've played almost every date all season.

Kelty always kick off at 2.30 p.m. even after putting the lights in I guess its just a tradition. People will have got into the habit of going to a game at that time although they may have missed a trick not moving to 3 p.m.  to give folk another half hour in the club:lol:

Indeed if Threave reach the Haig Gordon + Cree Lodge finals their total of 59 will be second only to Celtic: 2 ahead on 61 but who played 14 European games and are on for a domestic treble!

Nearest train station to Kelty. I Ken its just off the M90 but is it worth doing by train.....
Where are you coming from?

The nearest train station is Cowdenbeath, the bus to Kelty stops on the Main Street just under the train station. A taxi wouldn't be outrageous from there either if there are a few of you.

If you are coming from afar it might be just as easy to get an express train to Inverkiething then getting the 7B from there direct to Kelty. That takes about an hour but if you are having to change somewhere to get a Cowdenbeath train it might be 6 and half a dozen.

There are also direct buses (express buses to Perth, X26 I think?) from Edinburgh to Kelty which might be a better bet if you're coming from that direction.

Thanks looking at that (travelling from the south) it would be a pit stop at Cowdenbeath then the taxi job :guinness

That's the X56, I took it on Saturday from Perth and it was a good and quick connection, going over the M90. For anyone going to Kelty from the north that's definitely easier than taking the train to Cowdenbeath.

There's a slight chance of Threave upsetting the odds where Kelty would stay where they are in the EoSFL. I very much doubt it of course but a slight chance none the less.

Should that unlikely scenario happen we could have another shit season next season get relegated and Kelty piss the EoSFL.

There ye go passing ships
