SLClyde 704 Report post Posted January 24, 2019 Assuming the money freed up by Gorman leaving, Millar out on loan(doubt he’ll be on much anyway), is being used for Syvertsen so can’t see the budget being used up any more than it was.
sydney 580 Report post Posted January 26, 2019 David Gormley going on to bigger and better things.......from Pollok’s Website. David Gormley has been released by the club in order to sign for amateur side Nico’s of the Strathclyde Saturday Morning League. He has battled injury all season and despite that, fired in five goals for the club since August. All at Newlandsfield wish him all the best for the future.
Officer Barbrady 106 Report post Posted January 29, 2019 On 23/01/2019 at 20:15, haufdaft said: Ignore the quote. I see Peterhead have taken Sutherland from Elgin. I can't help but feel this is doubly good news for us, as while i can't say i rate him that highly, he has often been a decent performer for his parent club who might now struggle to replace him. The fact he's gone to Balmoor very possibly also means at least one less 'good' attacker is likely to feature for Peterhead if they're letting one of their current four go to accomodate him. -

Xervish 10 Report post Posted January 30, 2019 (edited) Recent news post on the club website is concerning. Seems like we are desperate for a cash injection if Norrie is begging the fans to dig in to their own pockets. The football we are playing is great, but I worry about the cost. FREDDYFRY 513 Report post Posted January 30, 2019 Yea, did raise a bit of consern when I read it. I assume that is why we have not added during the window. Performance wise and squad quality that is fine we don’t need to add to the squad if finance is an issue. Reinforces the fall out from the Scottish Cup exit. Probably the one big mistake made (and he has had justified criticism ) by Danny since arriving that he did not put 100% into the Cowdenbeath game in terms of team selection.

Excluding the Old Firm and Aberdeen, clubs at any level don't normally budget for cup progression and certainly David Dishon is on record in the past as saying that Clyde don't budget for it so that shouldn't really be an issue when it comes to finances. Danny did get his team selection wrong in the Scottish and Irn Bru Cups and he's made it harder for himself in that he's not had the luxury of extra funds above his budget to strengthen. We're doing just fine with the players we've got anyway.
LiviClyde 172 Report post Posted January 30, 2019 I don't think it's any secret that money is tight at the moment. We 've only had one home game this year and will only have one in February so cash flow is bound to be an issue right now. As far as the bigger picture is concerned, I don't have a problem digging as deep as I can afford if we want to attract/keep players of the caliber we currently have.. I would imagine that most fair minded Clyde supporters will feel the same way.
Only one David Marsh 463 Report post Posted January 30, 2019 Winter is always tight for most clubs since there is no prize money until later in the year.

Adolfo Rios 910 Report post Posted January 30, 2019 This is normally the stage clubs at this level feel the pinch. Initial cash flow from season tickets etc tends to be used by now. Without the cup run last year the financial results were worse. We’ll be in a similar position I would think but Norrie doesn’t appear to be the type of person to accept that and I think this is a push to sort that rather than us haemorrhaging money. Well we all certainly hope it’s that.

I’m no accountant, but it would make sense to budget for only having 1 Scottish Cup game when you have no guarantee of getting through it.
Come Away The Clyde 49 Report post Posted January 30, 2019 The more fans we can get turning up to our home games is the easiest and quickest way to help the cash flow at our club, I've persuaded my son to come (season ticket holder at Parkhead) along with one of his mates next time we are at home and they are away and I'll pay them into watch us (and they are not getting the use of my season ticket stubs )
