We didn't really turn up, Celtic were good. For us to be in with a shout we really needed to score first or get to HT 0-0. Conceding as early as we did meant we'd fucked it. Feels a bit weird to not really be that bothered yet here I am...disappointed certainly but largely over it. My fear after being 2-0 down in 25mins was that it'd end up 5 or 6 (especially as Celtic put 4 going on 8 past Rangers in the semi-final) which being honest would have been a harsh way to finish what has been a smashing transitional season. As it was we made a decent enough fist of the 2nd half, even if Celtic could probably have gone up another gear. Had Bigirimana's free kick crept in it'd have made things a bit better in terms of optics but there's no real shame in losing in two finals to the league champions. Congratulations to Celtic. Aye, and it was always going to help that Celtic have a team full of diving c***s anyway. Still got no idea why Allan Campbell was booked for a "foul" on Rogic which was actually a great tackle. But that's what happens when you play the Old Firm and particularly Celtic, we should've learned from Sinclair and McGregor diving earlier in the season I suppose. They're a shite team that had not a chance of winning today. By all reasonable standards, they should have stood aside to allow Aberdeen aside against the Tattie XI. Poor form from them. MJC Posted May 19, 2018 Share Posted May 19, 2018 I can't really fault us today, we just weren't good enough and were beaten by a better side. I don't think there was much more we could have done, as I think we gave our best but that unfortunately just wasn't nearly enough against a good Celtic side. We are a good, combative side but today we were chasing shadows in the first half and by the time we came more into things in the second half the game was already long gone and Celtic had taken their foot off the gas. That said, for all we saw a lot more of the ball we didn't really look like troubling Celtic apart from Bigi's free kick which hit the bar. On Bigirimana, he was far more effective in the middle for us than McHugh, our captain, who had an utter shocker and looked miles out of his depth. We've had a good season and have a team to be proud of. Today was a step too far though and hopefully one day we can reach a final and a) not be playing Celtic and b) make that quantum leap and win it.
