Lanark 4 Maryhill 1

Very well deserved victory today following our abysmal showing last week.  Completely outplayed our higher ranked opponents after going 1 down to our obligatory crappy set piece goal.

Our first and fourth goals were penalties converted by Shaun Gallagher in between which Ronan Kearney and Scott Schoneville each scored an excellent goal following some lovely play .

We missed a few chances, as did Maryhill early on. We should have had a 3rd penalty but the young ref was not going to make himself more unpopular by giving it.  Both sides were aggrieved with certain decisions, the worst of which was an offside with our man clean through having started his run in his own half.

Impressed by the Maryhill captain - an old hand. Their number 8 lost the plot after conceding the 2nd penalty. Was unquestionably a foul but he then squared up to 3 separate players following the award and had to go.

Have u lost your mind ? What chances are u talking about exactly? The striker in 1st half had 1v1 in first half from a goal kick. Then what other chances?

Did you see the game ? [emoji85] big b had 4 chances first half alone when the keeper made a great save and we had a good few shots on goal the first half our winger Fraser missed 2 1 on 1 start of second half and we had a few near things over the bar plus the numerous times we broke and took the wrong option ask any other person at the game will tell you the same even the Arthurlie punters were saying the same thing some of the football we played today was a joy to watch

Would say that result probably ends Beith's interest in the league race.

wouldnt quite say that just yet.... got a few of the "easier" teams left to play still....from memory remaining games  Home - Girvan,  Arthurlie, Clydebank, Cumnock, away games Arthurlie, Girvan Glenafton, Rob Roy, not sure what Kilwinning and the other rivals run in are like.... having said that it will be a hard ask but maybe after todays fightback it will give us some momentum...

Fair enough but, similar to Glenafton, it looks like too much to do and too many favours needed.

It's incredibly difficult to pick up 100% points in the run in with the mental fixture congestion.

We see it every year with teams dropping points all over the place in the run-in, and it's very rare for a side to come back and win the thing from the position Beith are in right now where you'd basically need maximum points.

The league is a 2 horse race, Talbot and Kilwinning.

Kilwinning have the benefit of not having the Scottish so get another chance to extend their lead to Talbot before they play another league game.

Kilwinning are a decent side, seem to have a bit of consistency in a league with a lot of teams at a similar level. Come May, Talbot might will still have a third of their league games to play to try and catch them and that may be a tough ask.

As for everyone else - their race has been run IMO.

I fully agree we needed 3 points today to keep our slim hopes alive a draw killed off both clubs chances.

Arthurlie are in shite state, such a shame. For me they need to get relegated and start again, they are a big club in the ju iors but lost there way

May be best to be relegated and re group over 2/3 seasons like Meadow & Petershill have.

Wouldn’t class us as ‘easy’ tbh.

Lok should have taken all 3 points at 2-0 up with 10 to go but indiscipline from Grant Evans and his red card immediately caused a loss of defensive shape.Disappointing.

Someone said yesterday that Evans has been sent off in his last 5 games vs Beith? 1 for Meadow and 4 at Pollok.

Not sure-but his indiscipline costs us games and for a player of his experience that isn’t good enough.
