But if it's casual punters coming along, does the shoehorning in matter? They'll just want to see a game. And they're not shoehorned in in August and are still badly attended.

The second point about cups is valid and there is a gradual shift towards reducing them, but they'll still exist (nationally and regionally) and that still means teams having cup runs and the need for league games (if scheduled) to be rearranged or a backlog to build up.If you reduce fixture numbers, you reduce home games which reduces income. That does not make sense financially.

The third point - isn't that shoehorning?

As far as I know (and it was the case) the SJFA pay the BBC to film the Junior Cup Final. My guess is ALBA's interest in filming anything else would be non-existent.

IF bad weather continues to plague this level (and it will!) then perhaps clubs need to rethink their financial approach - no player gets a living out of playing Junior (ok, I know someone will produce an example of sugar-daddy clubs) so they should not be dependent on that money in the winter months. But clubs also know this in advance and how sustainable is it to have a wage bill that in all likelihood will be difficult to fund every winter? You've got to make hay while the sun shines, as they say.

The senior game basically starts at the end of june with their own sectional cup. There is no way that would happen and summer football would be the beginning of the end for the juniors if it happened in isolation.

... and there we have it. The solution to coping with an October postponement is to have already played the game in June. 

THAT alone is why Summer football at this level is a non-starter!

I propose we play every other night in June and July just to get the season over with = that would give us 10 whole months of none of this football shite

The summer football topic is always talked about in the depths of winter, with the usual stoppages being players on holiday and it rains in May

Tonight Buffs play Medda in the Ayrshire Cup on a Wednesday night in May, they’ll be keeping players for their playoff place, and it’s a cup that usually has the managers stripped, so let’s actually see what sort of crowd it gets, that should be the only metric for changing it, will it increase viewers?
