Roll on the smi final draw.

Since the two legged format was introduced in 2009 Talbot have contested six semi finals, so twelve games in all, and have yet to taste defeat in any of those twelve games. They haven't always been pretty, far from it, but when it's the business end of the competition it's the results that matter, not the way in which they were achieved.

Records are there to be broken, of course, and this might be the year when it happens. I would always bet on Talbot over a two game encounter though because we know how to to do so. Looking forward to two good games, hopefully, with whoever we get.

We will take it one game at a time Sweep. We were a bit ring rusty yesterday and the conditions made it difficult for both sides. On saying that the home keeper stopped this game from turning into a bit of a thrashing. In all my years following Talbot that has to be the coldest I have ever been.

Cum oan Big Yin Greenbraes must be colder or is it auld age

Big game on Saturday, Wishaw v Kirkintilloch Rob Roy.

I'm sure the Hurlford v Bo'ness replay will be the more heavyweight battle this weekend but for me the magic of the cup will be encapsulated in this game. I've been going to Wishy matches for 38 years now (thankfully only a small proportion over that time) and through the 1980s and 90s when the side were rooted to the bottom of the Central League the bright spots (and certainly what kept me going) were the Junior Cup games like the marathon 3rd Round tie against Musselburgh that first got me interested and a win at Livingston a couple of years later that paved the way for the biggest crowd I ever saw at old Recreation Ground when Wishy played Armadale Thistle (stuffed again!) in the 4th Round. All credit to the local people who turned things around when the club were homeless and on their uppers and since 2002 it's been great to see the progress made culminating in promotion  4 years ago and coming so close to going up again in 2016. For me though, the magical memories have still come in the Cup, fighting back from 3 down against Hill of Beath in a replay at Wishy Sports Centre in 2004 (only to lose on penalties) and then revenge (30 odd years on) against Armadale when knocking them out on penalties 2 seasons ago. Despite a monsoon on the way back to the station there (it's qute a long walk from the ground) and being soaked to the skin for the next few hours I was deliriously happy.  To see Wishaw reach the quarter-finals is really the high point of all these years and whatever happens tomorrow (Rob Roy should be far too good, but I thought the same before the Cumnock game last season) I'd like to congratulate all concerned with the club for creating this little bit of history.  I see they have discovered it was 1938 the last time Wishy made the quarters (50 years after the champagne supernova in Kenilworth Avenue fountain when Wishy Thistle brought the trophy home), with the recent progress let's hope it's not another 80 year wait for the next one!

Anyway, living a fair distance from the spiritual home, I have to set off for the game at 6.30 in the morning, it's great to feel excitement building and I just hope the match does justice to the occasion. To me this is what the Cup's all about and I look forward to seeing a bumper crowd (just hope I get in!) at the Beltane tomorrow.

I've seen both teams this season and if KRR think this is a walkover then they might find themselves out the cup by Saturday teatime. Wishaw at home, go for it.

C'MOAN WISHY, ONCE IN A LIFETIME!

The way in which Wishy have survived, and even somehow progressed, in the last few years has been a joy to me. Honestly, one of those stupid wee things that makes life worth living. I thought they were on borrowed time when playing down at the windswept tundra of the Sports Centre, so very glad to see them now well entrenched at their "own midden" (poor drainage at The Beltane). I fondly remember the old days, just a stone's throw (or blootered game ball) from the Fair park, but I appreciate the present incarnation more, given how much effort has been put in to keeping things going in these days of wall-to-wall EPL, housing estates, and giant Tescos. They've come a long way since groundsharing in Newmains. Anyway, all the very best for the morra! Soak in "the magic of the cup"! I'll have to "watch"on the Wishy twitter, just like teletext back in the day. Can the Wee Ultras no get a Periscope goin?? - Win, lose, or draw ... just like life in general, it's the journey that matters. But a win would still be preferable, bahaha! Forza Wishy, indeed!!

Without being in any way disrespectful to a top notch Kirky side, surely the question here is whether a match fit Wishy side with players all over the park(including the keeper) capable of scoring goals, playing at a ground that has fairly recently seen both Pollok and the mighty Talbot make early cup exits, should really be at odds of 9/2 against a team that's got to be at least a bit ring rusty.

Hopefully the decent weather and the occasion will see the local troops turn out in force to see the Wishy's history-making bid for glory!

CYW!!

Wishaw 2 Kirkintilloch Rob Roy 0

Talk about history makers. Springtime in Craigneuk. They'll be dancing on the Main St tonight. Massive shout out to the Wishaw folks. Forget the semi final, just spend the next few days allowing it all to seep in, lads. You walk among Giants.
