BBC bias

I am afraid Scotland and the UK would not be a better place without the BBC - not everyone sits with their Labour, Tory or SNP bias-o-meter pointing at the screen waiting for something to come along that they can seize upon. Once the BBC is gone we can enjoy supremely bias free media options such as Sky, the Express and the National. As for the brave souls who take their stand by not paying the licence then the rest of us including pensioners have to pay more thanks to them.

Here's an idea...... don't pay it. Then you won't have to worry about "paying more".
I personally take great delight in ripping off tory voting (I only listen to the BBC and read the Daily Mail) pensioners. They deserve to be ripped off. They vote to be ripped off.

The standards of the BBC should be much higher than other TV or print media. But how jarring that Channel 4 – and even STV – have given us more balanced political coverage in recent years. The BBC have spent that time flirting with Farage, fawning over Johnson and filling our screens with a coterie of right-wing correspondents and presenters.

It pains me to say it but Sky’s Beth Rigby is a far more unbiased reporter than her BBC equivalent.

Do you ever watch Marr or the papers review on BBC news? It's basically an advert for far right views from the Express, The Mail the Telegraph and the Sun, where they quote these rags headlines as though they are gospel.

Unlike you I think pensioners are perfectly capable of making informed judgements based on a range of information and experience.
Really, so why did they vote against Scotland's self determination, vote for right wing nationalism and pretty much put the orchestrates of austerity in power for the foreseeable.
Bunch of wankers

You're spot on, most can articulate what should happen as well as any under 40, unfortunately when they vote it's all about self interest, the country has an abundance of selfish moaning faced auld b*****ds who love their descendants that much that they screw them over at the ballot box at every opportunity.

It stands to reason that there would be more self interest voting amongst older generations really as they are more likely to have built up a level of wealth/possessions over life than someone in their late teens clearly. I don't necessarily agree with that voting route but the probability increases in that age group.

The idea that reaching a certain age renders you incapable of coherent thought is just nonsense and is another element of arrogance from people who dislike those who voted the wrong way.

It annoys me that people would put their offspring before friends if push came to shove for any reason.

Every murderer, rapist, thief and Tory  is someone's child.

As far as I know, none of my friends fits any of these categories.

Old feckers who tend to vote right wing have had longer to be brainwashed by the right wing media.

We live in a capitalist society but most folk (yes, most) don't even realise it or what that means and think that this is just the way life has to be.

I never really thought I'd see a socialist society in my lifetime but always thought I'd see an independent Scotland. Not now.

I'm depressed.  :(

Merry fucking fraud everybody!   :thumsup2

Lots of people also understand what that means and believe, whilst not perfect, its the best method of creating a prosperous economy, and that socialism does not.

No, I don't agree. Although it depends how you categorise 'lots'.

It's certainly not perfect. It's extremely imperfect. Only a few are EXTREMELY prosperous, their 'supporters' have a comfortable life ( but only if they

keep their 'jobs') and the vast majority have an uncomfortable existence.

If you were starting with a blank slate and were offered a choice of socialism or capitalism, (once each had been fully explained to you) which would you choose?

I realise we are where we are and can't have a 'blank slate'  but it doesn't mean socialism isn't a better system than capitalism for the vast majority.

It's true that there's obscene inequality but is it true that the vast majority live uncomfortable existences? I'm not sure.

Your last point could be right but the fact we don't have a blank slate is a key point, there would be a huge risk going dramatically towards socialism too quickly in an ultimately capitalist global market. The tories are arseholes because they exploit the very worst parts of capitalism at the expense of the vulnerable, we know this. That doesn't make capitlism in itself evil IMO.
