BBC bias

That is absolutely incredible. I presumed it was fake, but the article is still here, remarkably unedited - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-55368922

Pesky law being used to beat the government!

Laura gets a word in with the pesky French at it again..

BBC lunchtime news hands over to Scotland correspondent for an "update regarding the FMs statement on the situation in Kent with regards to Scottish exports". The Scottish correspondent (Alexandra Mackenzie) then proceeds with a 60 second monologue about the Sun story and the FM apology at FMQs before a 10 second tag on at the end answering the initial question. Piss poor.

Because she probably would not have fessed up without the Sun publishing the pic?

Maybe she was.

So, you're suggesting that "forced" was used in a speculative sense rather than a literal one?

My point stands.

National ITV News story on Nicola's mistake with her mask started "Sturgeon forced to apologise..."

Can someone explain why they felt it appropriate to use the word "forced"?

Yet at Boris's press conference on Monday night he explained that they had got the number of trucks held up at Dover down to 170 - he also had had constructive talks with Macron and the whole thing would be resolved in a few hours.

He was also at pains to point out that the govt has been well prepared for this type of situation for some time now!

Was he forced to apologise for spouting complete and utter bullshit? Certainly not, no one in the media batted a fucking eyelid. Nor do they ever when it comes to this county's number 1 buffoon.

Still fascinating to me people's inability to truly believe something is a neutral entity, they just get annoyed when they're bias don't get confirmed.
Keep up the good work BBC, hold tight.
The BBC used to be pretty good at being politically neutral - yes, it would usually stick the establishment side of an argument - not a surprise - but on the whole had an excellent record of investigative journalism and political analysis.

Since the like of Kuennesberg have come in the whole notion of neutral journalism has gone out of the window. We see the continual drip drip of "unnamed sources" being reported as fact with little more than regurgitation of the bullshit they are being fed - there is little or no attempt to question the validity of the stories.

It's not just a criticism of the BBC (or even ITV) - but journalism is general.

Kuennesberg and her ilk are not journalists in the true sense of the word - they are just uncritical stenographers.

Other than Laura.K it's not bad though still.

The BBC has never been neutral. It's had a long history of secret service vetting and deliberately muting voices or movements deemed threatening to the establishment. Just because Labour are often considered part of the establishment doesn't dismiss where the BBC acts in service to the British state.

The BBC have even written about the former. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/stories-43754737
