Alloa V Forfar

Recommended Posts

Same team as last week, hopefully same result & hopefully haven’t taken whereismillar’s thread curse along with me.

Same team as last week I imagine, obviously if Taggart is fit to play. If not, then straight swap for Robbo which would be absolutely fine. Wouldn’t be surprised if Ross Stewart became the top goal scorer at the club this week or the next having only played a month!

Arrived late and missed the only goal, we should have scored again but poor finishing and sound goalkeeping meant forfar nearly got an equalizer.

not a great performance and not very inspiring but credit to forfar they kept plugging away..

I don't think the team is quite the unit it was with the new faces it looks like they need more time to gel.

That was grim. Head scratching stuff from the off, Malone and Mackintosh on the wings and Easton benched is just ridiculous. We surely don't have to play 4-4-2 do we?

He then takes Hurst off when he's looking lively and we're chasing the game.!?

Is the honeymoon over?

Dominated the first 10 and the last 20, Alloa had the best of the middle hour.
Malone was like a lost child today, completely ineffectual, blame has to go to Weir for that?
Bain is not a left back, he's been struggling there for weeks. He looked much better on the right.
Keeper saved us from another gubbing.

Jim Weir can sit and moan about the injuries all he wants, it doesn’t justify the line up he played today, absolutely no creativity whatsoever.
Easton eventually comes on at half time, for Whyte, For me Dylan Easton is our best player, and it’s absolutely ridiculous that he’s getting left on the bench!
So confused with this Ross Maciver player, he offers absolutely nothing to the side & just doesn’t even look like a footballer, baffling that he came on in place of Hurst who actually started to play a bit better when up top with Peters.

We played some really good football at times throughout the game and looked by a fair distance the better team. Didn't put Forfar away though and they could easily have equalised in the last 15 mins. More worryingly, despite the bench looking strong, the subs didn't contribute much at all and the team looked worse after the changes. Something for the manager to think about, which is natural enough after a number of changes in recent weeks. Good 3 points anyway and we're in a decent position.

Also most enjoyable to hear the word vagabond used at the football. Top work @BigMartyn86

Really good three points today. Played some good stuff and should have been 2 or 3 to the good, but weren't and nearly paid the price as Forfar put us under the cosh in the last 25 minutes or so.

Thought the manager got his first two subs wrong. We were crying out for Robbo coming on IMO and improving our retention of the ball. Instead PJ and Smith came on and allowed Forfar to take the initiative in midfield.

Having said that a good result.

Yeah, I thought managers subs were correct in selection but didn't really work out. He gave Crossan and Smith a chance to stake their claim, and Kirky whilst dangerous was a bit below par. Don't see Crossan as an impact player- he usually needs a bit of time to digest what he's up against. But he didn't merit a start next week based on his input today on its own. With the way the game was going Smith didn't get too much of a chance to impress. We have a bit of a fixture pile up approaching so it's key to give all of our attacking options game time to sharpen them up.

As said, a game where we created a decent amount of chances, but also left the door unlocked from time to time. Take the 3 points and move on to a couple of tough away fixtures where we will probably need to be more clinical.

Played some nice football in the middle of the park with the likes of Kirky for the majority of the game yesterday but just didn’t have the finish. Ross Stewart missed a few really goods one that he should be tucking away.

Feel the subs were wrong as well. However, I feel like Jim has an obligation to give these loan guys a run out. Would have had Renton & Robbo on before the two youngsters. Still to see what Smith is all about as his two cameo appearances really leave us with nothing!

Still a wins a win. Always delighted when Big Andy gets on the scoresheet!
