dorlomin
"Climate crisis". Invariably used by people who know virtually nothing about the Earths climate or energy policy. That or the Guardian trying to get people to donate to it. Actual climate scientists tend to be far more nuanced in their language.

Very good programme last night explaining the science behind the predictions, it's all about probability like all science but they seem pretty confident about the need to act now. https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/p02jsdrk/climate-change-by-numbers The programme on before it about Climategate and the leaked emails gives more background about how they collect and interpret data, and how a little knowledge can be a dangerous thing, and lead to totally erroneous conclusions. https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m000b8p2/climategate-science-of-a-scandal -

tarapoa
“The state of this...” etc - becoming a bit overused by Scottish fitba fans on forums. Quite liked it at first....
mac.i
This happened to me, too. We were at a meeting with Tunnocks and some German company who were building machinery for Tunnocks. Our gaffer has a Tesla and basically never fails to mention it or how he drove from point A to B without touching the steering wheel. Toe curling material. German boy come out with something along the lines of "can we push this meeting on, the Learjet is fuelled and we were hoping to get home today." My favourite version of this type of brag is called the LA Speed Story told by the pilot of an SR-71 Blackbird......
