the original livi
What is the fans perception on the decline of football in Scotland and the reasons why football in Scotland is on the decline, with the national team not qualifying for a major tournament since 1998 and recently been drawn in a new European tournament with Albania and Israel countries that we are supposed to be on the same level with, being the third Level of a possible four within Europe. Also, with the major clubs in Scotland continue to struggle when playing in the major European tournaments, what do the fans think are the reasons for the struggles within the beautiful game in Scotland. “what has happened to the money/Investment within the Scottish game” No national manager, No money to invest in goal line technology, No chief executive just some of the recent things that have came up. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSe5P-1PHiLxaLNwm2uNHHbD_XbiOGopzBZEvO7JnhkdWvpJzA/viewform?c=0&w=

greenockraver
2 big reasons in my opinion 1. The effect of deindustrialization on scottish culture. 2. Making an arse of the Sky contract in 1998. Those hit more than any other factor as far as I can understand
Richey Edwards
"The Scottish game is ran by idiots" is the correct answer.
HibeeJibee
Scottish football is richer than any previous time in history, btw, plus attendances are also at some of their highest-ever levels. What's altered in relation to other countries are... (1) developing countries catching-up - in the 1960s & 1970s countries like Denmark, Germany, Greece, Netherlands etc. were only just getting professional leagues going and football in Eastern Europe has only really taken off since the fall of communism in the early 1990s (which also created more countries) (2) commercial sponsorship / TV rights - no longer is a club's spending power reliant on gates, creating a huge multiplying effect in populous countries (3) Bosman/"freedom of movement"/etc. - can't keep talent throughout their careers or exclude foreigners
Inanimate Carbon Rod
Run by idiots, old firm pandered to by said idiots, no investment in coaching etc, its hard for boys clubs to get training pitches etc, sky tv showing better leagues. Imo need to write off the next 20 years and just realise Scottish football is pish, build indoor centres like Toryglen in every town and develop young talent. Kelheart
Went to pot after scrapping 3 foreigner rule imo , too many poor imports meant to of been better than what we had ?? , a few were but most were not so , killed off youth development
