Played by the first division clubs for two seasons (1963-64 & 1964-65) in May in League Cup style group sections arranged regionally to provide extra local derbies and boost the number of guaranteed fixtures from 40 (34 in the league plus 6 in the league cup section) to 46: http://sfha.org.uk/summercup.htm No Old Firm either time and by then relegated relegated East Stirlingshire who were about to do a flit to Clydebank replaced by second division champions Morton in 1963-64. It just disappeared after 2 seasons, wasn't popular with the fans, although attendances at the latter stages were reasonable.

Jacksgranda
A couple of Glasgow Cup Final programmes from the days when it was still a prestigious competition and a much coveted trophy. Played on a Monday in both cases @HibeeJibee ! Clyde beat Rangers after a replay, this was in the halcyon days of Clyde winning cups, and Rangers beat Thistle 2-1. Thistle won it the following season, beating Celtic 2-0 in the final.

Edit: keeper looks like Dave Latchford who also played for Celtic could well (ha ha) be- I ripped the photo off Aberdeen FC's site and it was claiming that it was Aberdeen v Meadowbank.
Jacksgranda
You had to be tough to get into the Airdrie team back in the 50's - you needed to be "fined" first! Looks like Eddie Turnbull in the background. Edited April 27, 2022 by Jacksgranda Sleppnig

AlbaNZ
Re the Summer Cup mentioned earlier - Has anyone got indication of what attendances were like ? I went to a few games at Fir Park and my memory is that for the sectional games there would have been barely a couple of thousand people there. Also have a recollection that an Airdrie V Third Lanark game had an attendance of around 100 or so? And yet at the semi final second leg v Hibs , and the final first leg V Dundee Utd the ground was packed? Or is my memory playing tricks?

Dundee United always had very respectable crowds for the Summer Cup, gates between 5,000 and 15,000+ in the six home and away group games in 63-64, and similar in 64-65, with both semis v Thistle at over 8,000, and the final ties v 'Well 12,081 (Fir Park), 18,371 (Tannadice). Tannadice tie.

You're spot on as they both had blonde hair with occasional streaks of blood which usually happened after they kicked lumps out of the opposition , but big mcvie was even harder and dirtier. They were also able to play football as well if the need arose.
