Can older posters confirm if neutral venues were the norm for multiple replayed games before the advent of penalty kicks in the Scottish Cup? This is the only one in my lifetime I can recall. In '71 East Fife v St Mirren went to three games , the choice for the third game was either a neutral venue or the toss of a coin for home advantage , they both agreed on the toss of a coin. In 73 , Stranraer v St Mirren went to 3 games , toss for home advantage was offered but the clubs decided on a neutral venue , which was Somerset Park.

AllyM
Not Scottish football but this looks great. Let's bring it back. You could add some sleepers and isolate folk in it between games. https://youtu.be/NBkgS5L_NRQ

Changed days at Ibrox! Furious arguments broke out among the regulars over whether it was offensive or just a bit of banter. I remember one guy in front of me cracking up. "We pay his f**kin wages! We pay his f**kin wages!!! " Well not for the next fortnight they didn't anyway.

John Brown did similar for Dundee against Accies at DP, mid 80s. He had been getting constant pelters from the home fans (he was a former Accies player - silky midfielder believe it or not). Dundee got a late penalty. He scored and took great pleasure in doing a lap of honour giving us the vicky's. No yellow card or disciplinary action IIRC as it was entirely justified
Ranaldo Bairn
Useless left back Joe Tortolano did similar for us. Got hooked while right in front of the choir, and pointed to his arse as he jogged off amid howls of abuse. tamthebam
Gordon "Pogo" Smith did the same at Firhill when he scored for Meadowbank against his old club Partick- he ran up to the Partick bench and gave them a "reverse Churchill"
