Why are there so many Rangers fans still left?

They still think it's the same club...

Oh, at that game, I see now.

A touch of modernish history. Victoria Park on the final match day before leaping up to the dizzying heights of the top tier in Scottish Football. QoS as opposition IIRC?

Shame that it's now all seater.

As I was intruding on LoonsYouthTeam's post, here's Station Park in the1957-58 Scottish Cup tie, Forfar v  Rangers, which I think heralded the opening of the stand at the ground.

The guy on the bike is away to the Post Office for the half time score to get telegraphed through to Ibrox...

The game that day was against Hamilton, a 5-1 win. The gazebo on the left was for a Torridon concert after the game and trophy presentation . Uncle Roy even played on guitar at one point. We beat QotS 5-3 away the following Saturday.

The builders moved in the next day IIRC to start building the all seater away stand and to replace the East Stand + Jailend terracing. That fine looking surface was also dug up for undersoil heating (the pitch was a disaster the next season)

Bob Marley looking quite in awe of Dixie Deans 😀

Unsure if it's his magnificent mullet/tache combo or his penchant for Cup final hat tricks against Hibernian but the reggae legend looks starstruck.

Gonna need some context here if that's ok?

"Are you Dixie Deans who used to play for Celtic?"

😂

I'm sorry but, even as a Celtic supporter myself, I'm calling bullshit on that....🤦‍♂️😂

Pal of my dad's told me of being at some supporters club function years ago where the aforementioned Mr Deans was a guest, after a few shandies he got a wee bit narky about being called 'Dixie', pointing out his name was actually John and could people call him that if they didn't mind, at which point someone piped up....

"Well how come your pub is called Dixies....?"

I see a certain Tam 'Dusty Bin' Hendrie in there...

Could be a pic from his time in Australia as John Dixie’s t-shirt looks like it might be the Adelaide City badge from his Adelaide City NSL days (57 games, 30 goals 1977-1980) and Marley played at the Apollo in Adelaide on 20-21 April 1979.

IIRC Marley was a huge football fan and probably did know who that was beside him.

It was football that killed him really. Danny Baker murdered him during a match between the Wailers and NME staff.

Brian McClair celebrates scoring the only goal of a twice replayed Scottish Cup 3rd round tie between Celtic and Aberdeen in 1987 at neutral and rain lashed Dens Park, David Robertson and Willie Miller look less impressed.

Can older posters confirm if neutral venues were the norm for multiple replayed games before the advent of penalty kicks in the Scottish Cup? This is the only one in my lifetime I can recall.

Yes. For example, Montrose played Hearts at Muirton in a quarter final second replay in 1976.
