Three Inverness grounds now, courtesy of Groundtastic. Firstly Grant Street Park of Clachnacuddin, then Inverness Thistle's Kingsmills Park and Caledonians's Telford Street Park:

Jim Kidd, now there's a Scottish football legend!

From Accies Twitter. Unusual Aberdeen strip. Any idea what the colours are?

Edit: Accies defence noticeable by their absence here.

Thie following is from an article on the Aberdeen website titled, the history of the blue kit. Goes on to say it possibly could be links with Chelsea in the 50's.

By the mid 60’s it had been altered to be a blue shirt with white and red stripes.

This Dons strip was nicknamed “candy stripes” at that time.

Aberdeen have often had variations of blue as their change outfit.

Here's the striped jersey, v Third Lanark in 1963.

I loved that strip at the time, and it’s a fabulous photo of Jim Forrest.

You don't often hear the word "commodious" these days. I think that's a shame.

You don't often hear the word "commode" either these days, either. Probably not such a shame.

Thought so. I went to that game with school friends.

I worked with a Clyde fan who was still bitter that they were once denied a place in Europe due to some arcane UEFA rule that limited the number of teams from a city to 2 in any given year. Given that the whole world (or people from Lanarkshire. Same thing) know they come from Ruglen this is either:

1. A profound injustice

2. Untrue.

The former. We were deemed to be a Glasgow team and our place was given to Dundee IIRC.  It was downhill thereafter 😪

Clyde finished third, which is their highest ever league placing. Clyde did not qualify for Europe, however, because Rangers finished second and took the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup place.

Profound injustice it is then. It would have been some sight, Benfica or internazionale pitching up at the Kings Park hotel. Away fans in the  the Main St. Shawfield under the midweek lights in a glamour European game.

Sorry if I'm making this worse.

Yes, you are. I think of the film Sliding Doors - where would we be now had we gotten a European run. Finances would have been very different, maybe attracted better players and crucially not been caught below the cut-off for the SPL in 1974, thereby maintaining our place in the top 10 at the time.

Cue a comment about my auntie and balls.
