Flybhoy
Frank McAvennie runs towards the jungle to celebrate his first goal in the New Year derby match in 1988, he scored both in a 2-0 win. Don't the Paris Buns in the background look delighted...

The old North Stand visible behind them and the Mount Florida end which, I believe has the same roof to this day, erected in 1969. The roof over the west side of the Hampden terracing was erected in the summer of 1967 to coincide with Queens Park's 100th birthday celebrations. The original intention was to build that roof, demolish the old north stand and extend the roof over the north and east sides, then rebuild the main stand. As it was, a lack of cash meant the stadium wasn't fully covered by a roof until 1993/94 when the new east and north stands were built and the west terrace and main stand remained for a few more years until 1997 when demolition work started there. Here's a pic of the stadium in its inbetween stage - you can see the way the old roof ran into the new roof. The west terrace had seats bolted on to the terracing which was concreted in the 80s and was then demolished in order to build the present stands, despite the seats having the same pattern as they currently do. EDIT: Here's a picture of the west and south stands being constructed around 1998 Edited September 8, 2019 by Andy_K_97

I thought the roof was re-done after the other end and North stand was revamped? Where would that TV studio be, by the way? A portacabin at the top of the terracing? Wonder why they had to bring a camera from Newcastle all the way up to Glasgow? Definitely Crerand, Billy McNeil to his left? Dickie Davis with white socks on and some Greenpeace protester sitting on the left. Or is it the Irish guy from Coronation Street.

Andy_K_97
More Hampden spam - an aerial view from the east of the ground that I'd judge as either in the 70s or at the most the very early 80s as the old north stand is still there. Some excellent floodlight porn too if you're into that sort of thing. The terraces are still ash and railway sleepers save for one small section at the north-east corner which has been concreted. The enclosure is just visible and is still terraced at this point. And another view from the opposite end. I'd wager late 80s or early 90s as the terraces have been concreted and going by the amount of cranes behind the east terrace some work's about to get undertaken. I'm going towards early 90s as the east floodlights are down - when the stadium was in its half-and-half stage the old lights came down, replaced by the current east & north ones and "temporary" ones were put onto the edge of the south stand roof that were removed when it was demolished. The enclosure is now just part of the south stand seating, of which most of the original wooden chairs would be replaced by modern plastic ones by the time the stand was demolished.

The North stand was pulled down late 82, the league cup final was played December that year between Celtic and Rangers and the entire North Terrace was closed due to the demolition work taking place, replays of the goals here show said section closed off, both sides got their traditional ends behind each goal and half of the Main Stand only, the ash terraces were ripped up and converted the following spring after the North Stand removal was complete. I suspect your bottom picture may be the beginning of phase 1 of the Hampden renovation in 92, after that years Cup Final the North and East terraces were roofed and had seats fitted, on the cheap obviously giving it the shite view and atmosphere from those areas we all know and hate, the old Main Stand was torn down late 96 and took nearly three years to rebuild with the museum and various hospitality suites etc, seem to recall work nearly stopped completely as the project was hit by cash flow issues, Rangers v Hearts in May 96 was the last big game in front of the old Main Stand and the new South Stand and Hampden reopened for big matches in time for the 1999 Scottish Cup Final between Celtic and Rangers, I think Queens Park still played most of their matches there in the intervening period but Cup Finals and big Scotland matches were rotated between Celtic Park and Ibrox, seem to recall a few internationals at Tynecastle and Pittodrie as well.
AyrTroopMajor
Ayr United v Rangers from the 1992/93 season. Ayr sporting a shirt which some might suggest looks like it's been shat on. Ayr United v Hibs in a Scottish Cup Replay in 2011, prior to the renovation of the Railway End roof. Ayr's last ever visit to Brockville to play Falkirk in 2001.

Flybhoy
The flowing perm of Davie Provan in action for Scotland against Sweden in 1981, he didn't get too many caps that era as John Robertson of Nottingham Forest usually was preferred, fine player in his day though was Provan before he had to retire aged just 30 after being diagnosed with M.E.

Flybhoy
Saw this image on Facebook earlier, England v Scotland at Wembley some time in the 1950's, I'm pretty sure Billy Wright is the England skipper, I think but not 100% sure the Scotland captain may be Bobby Shearer of Rangers?
Flybhoy
Celtic beat Leeds United 1-0 in the first leg of the 1970 European Cup semi final at Elland Road, in the return at Hampden a Billy Bremner goal levelled the tie, here Jack Charlton is helpless as John Hughes equalises on the night before Bobby Murdoch sealed a 3-1 aggregate win shortly after. How rammed does the crowd look, over 130,000 there that night including my old dad.
