Danny McGrain jumps for joy after his shot, which was going out for a throw in is diverted in by George McCluskey for the only goal in the 1980 'riot' Scottish Cup Final, Tom Forsyth appeals in vain for some masonic intervention from the officials which, on this occasion wasn't forthcoming.

Which is which? Probably easier to tell us which set of fans is setting the flare off.

PS, this type of picture is a great indication of the times. No need for police or pavement dancing.

Probably Hearts fans on the left heading towards Dunbar End turnstiles.

What was the plan when Clyde vacated Shawfield?

I vaguely remember East Kilbride being touted at some point, but was Cumbernauld established as the destination by the time they left Glasgow?   There was obviously a fair bit of exile in between.

I've learnt stuff here about Falkirk and St Johnstone leaving their grounds.  What the Hell was it like with Clyde, given the uncertainty and complete uprooting that necessarily followed?

The main backers of the football team were Dunn and Moore the lemonade people. Leaving aside the greyhound folks closing the place and then Shawfield being reopened by another greyhound outfit Clyde had moved on. Once the Dunn family pulled out of the football side Clyde were effed money wise. All sorts of strange tales of Shawfield being redeveloped with government money that came to eff all. It’s a bit of eye sore now with a slightly bizarre side dish of animal rights folks turning up outside to protest about doggy racing. Like all greyhound tracks it was one chunt of a place to watch football. Last time i saw a game at Shawfield, Hearts won 7-0 in a league match.

As for East Kilbride, there was claims at the time of NIMBYism by the local authority, some rumours about not wanting a Senior football in the town and who they might bring in ie the Glasgow Two.

Sunday Post, 1950.

The Artist has made Bobby Templeton look like Frank Sidebottom..

Here he is in Arsenal colours:

A certain on-line encyclopia that rhymes with HickeyMedia told me that he would have earned his first cap against England in 1902 at Ibrox but that was the match in which the Ibrox disaster happened and the game was rendered null and void by the authorities.

Saints players are correct, and Warks the goalscorer, can't help you with the others.

It's part of a wide ranging article
