I'm struggling with a few.

Alan Brazil, Andy Gray, Paul Sturrock, Roy Aitken, John Wark, Graeme Souness, ?, ?, suit(Ernie Walker?), (? Looks like McAvennie but before his time possibly), ?, Willie Miller, Jock Stein, Alex Mcleish, ?, Charlie Nicholas, ?, Paul Hegarty, Gordon Strachan, Jim McLean, Richard Gough, collar only, ?

Did someone not say that was Willie Harkness, QoTS chairman?

Reckon so - think it is Wembley 83 - starting line up found  here

Looks like it.   I've got no recollection of that game, though. I thought I could remember just about every Scotland -England game from about 1973 until the late 80's

I like to think I also have a good memory for matches in this era but I can't recall anything about this one.

It does look a bit like him so could be a good shout.

A few folk have mentioned Tommy Burns, but I'm not seeing him, which one is he?

Souness, Eric Black, Tommy Burns, in that order.

ETA: Should have refreshed first!

Your missing ones. David Narey, Tommy Burns, Neil Simpson, Billy Thomson, Eammon Bannon, Frank Gray and Brian Scott. (I think they’re all right)

Would this have been a midweek match? My memories of Home Internationals was that Scotland usually starter with Wales on first weekend, NI midweek then England the last weekend.

Definitely midweek. Tuesday, I think.

The games at Wembley in 81 , 83 and 85 were all played in midweek

81 was definitely 3pm on Saturday, as was 85, but it took place at Hampden.

As others have said too, I have very little recollection of the 83 match.  I watched some highlights there and even then, few bells were rung.

Does anyone know why it was played at Hampden twice in succession in 84 and 85?
