Teams come out for Hamilton v Morton at Cliftonhill in 1997 - we were given the shed, which was before H&S (or whatever) closed it.

At one time the side opposite the main stand must have held around 15000 seeing as the record attendance was over 27000.

Here it is from the air in 1936, the year that record was set.

Drew Busby who died today. Seem here in Hearts colours but previously, and famously, scored Third Lanark's last ever goal.

Sad news. Had a great partnership with Drew Jarvie in my earlyish day’s watching Scottish football.

I have always had a fascination for floodlights. This photo is a bloke climbing the Hampden pylons, with a cloot in his back pocket, to clean the lights. No safety gear, no special clothing, just a lot of bottle.
The game was different then, but working practices were differenter!
As ever, an utterly shameless, mercenary, and downright blummin' cheap-ass (I don't know how I get away with it!) attempt at publicity for Lifted Over The Turnstiles Volumes 2 and 3, which are back in shops after selling out the first print run.

Three Scotsmen in Odense Stadion in 1979 for a challenge match between a Danish League Select and Liverpool, part of a series of games to celebrate 75 years of League Football in Denmark.

Graeme Souness scoring with Frank McGarvey in the background. The keeper on the deck is my uncle, who played in Denmark at the time (also played junior for Ardrossan, Port Glasgow and Greenock).

Liverpool won 5-2.

I'm guessing quite a few teams relegated out of the second league will have their best chance to go up this coming season if the review promised by the SFA and SPFL attempts a restructure. The end game for the authorities may be to push the OF b sides into the fourth level by some means, although I'm certain the boards of clubs at that level presently will resist.

It may come down to how much the two cheeks are willing to pay the wee teams.

The review will result in f**k all

Absolutely.

McLeish report part two. What a pile of shite that was. Years to compile and came to the conclusion that Scotland should have a ten team top flight, despite every other league in Europe of any significance, having a 16 or 18 team top division.

Great photo. Surely your uncle merits being named?

Legendary Cowden physio Davie Stewart (in post 1930-53) working on Cowden's goalkeeper of the day. Weirdly the composition of this photo really reminds me of the famous Rembrandt painting, The Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Tulp, although the Cowden keeper is (presumably) still alive.

A lesser known pic from the 1896 Scottish Cup Final between Hearts and Hibs at Logie Green, the home of St. Bernard's.

If any P&Ber is wondering where the ground was it was (roughly) where the Tesco at Canonmills is.

Must be one of very few pictures of Frank in a Liverpool jersey playing alongside first team players as he never ever played a competitive game for Liverpool.

I think Frank made a massive mistake in not staying at Liverpool. IIRC it was Bob Paisley who got Frank interested in horse racing and betting which was a downfall for him and his marriage.

One of the greatest natural goal scorers Scotland has produced.

He was into gambling long before moving to Liverpool. Was never out of the bookies in Springbank Road.

Neil Mooney. Here's another from the same game. He was playing for Svendborg at the time.677787738_1979.8.7FBU2-5Liverpool(7).thumb.JPG.b7b3d763d6b5bccb8d81f5b932f99a5e.JPG

Slightly less glamorous, here he is playing for Ardrossan Winton Rovers against Kilbirnie Ladeside in a Junior Cup tie in the early 70s. Apparently, this was the first match I ever attended (but as I was around 2 years old I have no memory of it).
