To be honest, most Scottish clubs did. Home friendlies against English sides were akin to the Nigerian League home results.

Surely one of the best uncapped Scottish players of the 1980s... although he could frustrate his own supporters especially during his spell at The Dons. The only midfielder to score over 100 top division league goals, since 1975. Absolute travesty he was never capped , Andy Roxburgh , Ferguson, and Stein saw for to cap the likes of Murdo MacLeod, Ian Wilson, Gary MacKay, Peter Grant, Robert Connor, ahead of Stark
Dundee Hibernian
It's a while since a full fixture list was played on Christmas Day in Scotland, 50 years ago in 1971, although 1976 saw the last few such games played. But (and this might well be @HibeeJibee's territory) a tragic incident took place on Christmas Day 1909, when James Main of Hibernian and Scotland suffered a stomach injury which proved fatal, as he died four days later in hospital. In those days club committees decided on the playability of a pitch, not referees, and the match between Partick Thistle and Hibernian took place to the reluctance of the players of both sides. The committees were keen for the fixture to take place as many thousands were inside the ground, and no match meant refunds. A Thistle player reportedly slid on the surface and caught Main in the stomach, rupturing his bowel, an injury which was detected too late for treatment. The image to the right is of one pillar beside the large tombstone in Burngrange Cemetery, West Calder, which was installed and inscribed by friends and supporters. On the day of the funeral, a scheduled match at Easter Road, which Hibs had asked to be postponed, was ordered to be played by the SFA.

Hamilton hammered Motherwell 5-0 that same day, with 5 out of 6 fixtures in the top league taking place. Maybe 2015 was the last time for 1st January fixtures, others might know better.
