Excuse my ignorance, who's the chap on the right? His clobber seems to be from the mid-1990s, Lambie looks like a Sweeney extra from the early to mid 1970s  whilst Bertie Auld looks late 1970s/very early 1980s.

Pat Quinn. Bertie's assistant at Hibs.

A bit of a forgotten game but Queens Park played Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup at the grounds of Merchiston Castle School in Edinburgh.

Merchiston Castle School are now out at Redford but they moved years after this game so I believe the venue was where the Napier Uni Merchiston campus is in Colinton Road but I'm too lazy to do the research.

I'd guess it was played on the adjacent cricket field, which has now been replaced by housing

Century ago today Dumbarton 'keeper Joshua Wilkinson died of abdominal injuries, received in a hard encounter at Ibrox a couple of days before. Operation failed to save him from peritonitis.

On the subject of Auld I was suprised to learn he only ever earned 3 caps for Scotland (plus 2 for the league XI).

Indeed.

Btw he also played - and scored - in an unofficial international Jutland 3-3 Scotland:

Also represented Glasgow twice... Sheffield 1-1 Glasgow and Glasgow 1-1 Leeds United:

Almost a JFK moment.

1959 League Cup Final Hearts against Third Lanark. Supposedly the third Lanark keeper Jocky Robertson was an avid Hearts fan and always wore a Hearts top underneath his goalie jersey. The only time a player in the the losing team was wearing the colours of the winning team. May be an image of 7 people

He was sent off in his debut for Scotland vs Netherlands in 1959 for lashing out I retaliation. He became the first Scotland player ever to be sent off. I believe this indiscipline partly led to his departure from Celtic.

It was a different game back then. The abuse flair players took back then was incredible. Bertie could dish it back out though. He broke the legs of Davie Provan of Rangers then George Miller of Hearts in consecutive games.

When he signed for Birmingham he was sent off for head butting Johnny Haynes and then knocked out the Fulham centre half who came to remonstrate with Bertie with one punch.
