A Photographic History Of Scottish Football

With the prospect of games being played behind closed doors looming, here is a picture from Celtic losing 2-1 at home to Atletico Madrid in September 1985 after a 1-1 draw in Spain, the punishment for some naughty behaviour the previous season against Rapid Vienna at Celtic Park and in the 'third game' between the sides at Old Trafford.

Brian McClair stretches to win the ball from Atletico keeper Fillal, a World Cup winner with Argentina in 1978.

An odd one to watch if you were a pressman or a photographer. There must have been a few fans sneaked in with dubious excuses though?

Ironic that the worst gang of cheating scum from then 'til now benefitted from Pacult et al being cheating scum back then. Not a fan of your mob but UEFA were a disgrace with their response to that incident.

Willie Miller with an arm raised, demanding something from the officials. Who'd have imagined such a thing?

‘Attendance 20,154’ Probably at least 5,000 more payments through the turnstiles and straight into the biscuit tin as the old Celtic board pursued their own tax avoidance strategy.
Contrast to modern practice of declaring official attendances way higher than the actual number of people actually in seats.

Other than Billy Stark (2nd left in front row) and Billy Dodds (2nd right front row) I can't place a name to the faces.

Sam Cosgrove third from the left in the back row.

Was Andy Kinnell any relation to ex-Don George Kinnell?

ETA: Wikipedia would suggest they're brothers.
