The club currently plying their trade as Livingston are essentially a renamed, rebadged and rehomed version of Meadowbank Thistle who regularly played in front of crowds of approximately 100 at the Commonwealth Stadium from evolving from Ferranti Thistle in the mid 70's to being bought over by hated businessman Bill Hunter who essentially killed the admittedly lost cause of a club and started afresh in silicone valley in the late 1990's.

Here is a team group shot from 1992, in action against Morton at Cappielow the same year and watched by the usual sparse crowd at home, late 1980's, opponents unknown.

The main stand had an irregular cut out in the seating which formed the Royal Box, which was in line with the finish line of the running track.

Meadowbank is now a pile of rubble.

And it may cheer some of you up to know that I've had a pish in the Queen's toilet in the stand....!

I'm sure the Meadowbank player on the left is Adrian "The Hunphuqeur" Sprott. Chap with the No 10 shirt might be Darren Jackson given the haircut. Possibly 85-86 season then.

Stirling Albion team line up 1971,

Tam McLaren was a trainer with Meadowbank Thistle later on. A nice guy- I last saw him at the final match at Meadowbank Stadium a couple of years back.

Also in that photo are Mickey Lawson and Terry Christie, both of whom went on to manage Meadowbank. Bob Shankly was, of course, Bill Shankly's brother and managed Dundee to the League title and then the semi-finals of the European Cup.

Always thought that was a brilliant, superbly balanced pic. It's one that can genuinely be classed as iconic as you mention.

A bad day for Dunfermline.

The same afternoon Kilmarnock won the league at Tynecastle. Idiotic fixture scheduling is clearly nothing new in Scotland...

We came third? In the league, 1 point behind Kilmarnock.

My boss was in the hibs squad for that game. Didn't make the subs bench, but dave Beaumont, who'd hardly kicked a ball all season, did.

First game my St Mirren supporting uncle took me to. Think it ended 1-0 to Aberdeen, settled by a 30 yard screamer from the man pictured.

I knew he had passed away but didn’t know the circumstances. He was some player. Only player I’ve seen to have the squad number 00.

The Meadowbank defender on the left staring at the ball looks to be in his 50s!

I think that's Rowan Alexander on the right, last seen prancing about Hampden dressed like something off a fucking shortbread tin at the 2006 Scottish Cup Final as manager of that Gretna crash and burn circus act.

Absolutely fucking fanny of a boy, I remember when he was placed on 'sick leave' just before Gretna got promoted to the top flight (rumour was he was an alcoholic mess and went for one of the players in a drunken rage) he was never reinstated to his job but not properly sacked either, their first SPL match, against Falkirk at their 'home ground' at Fir Park he turned up at 2.30 and attempted to enter the dressing room area in a clear publicity stunt, totally undermining the then manager, the equally loathsome Davie Irons and players that day.

Tosser, don't think he has been back in football since, also seem to recall him for a spell sleeping in his office at Palmerston while Queen of the South manager as his wife had fucked him out.
