Unfortuntatly Inverness City are in abeyance at the moment with no word if they're return to the SJFA. He was also the stepdad of a boy I worked with recently. A very nice chap so he was. Used to chat with Ian at Inverness City games a few years back when they played at the Northern Meeting park, before moving to Lister Park, named after him.

We signed him that summer and he was brilliant for us for a couple of seasons. Sold him to Kilmarnock after the Saltcoats debacle for £90k I think.

Ranaldo Bairn
In 88/89 Jim Duffy took over at 29 years old and converted Dave Clarke's defensive football mogadon into a swashbuckling attacking side. We pushed DA all the way in the league but just missed out to you guys on the title and promotion. Next season, and things were scratchy, with poor signings and an inconsistent team. The team went out to Saltcoats for a night out and let's just say that a multitude of hands were thrown that evening as tempers and frustrations came out with the help of alcohol. Duffy was wanting to sack some players but the board refused to let him (allegedly Burgess was one as they knew they could get cash for him). So JD resigned in a strop - something he has freely admitted to regretting bitterly ever since. It was the end for 2 or 3 players though.

Dundee Hibernian
Here's Jim Duffy, relating to the story above: youngest manager in the country at the time (28-29?) having retired through a career ending injury. After chucking it at Brockville, in a footballing Lazarus style, he returned to playing and appeared in around 200 more senior matches.
Ivo den Bieman
Merging the chat about Jim Duffy's Falkirk and "Benny" Brazil from a few pages back, here's the bold Benny turning out for his last senior club, Forfar, at Brockville, in 1990/91. "Benny" was a good lower league full back at that time. All the pace of a crab caught in an oil slick, but determined, and tough. That was a very strong Falkirk side from memory with the likes of Sam McGivern in the team. The managers were bonkers though- Duffy, then Stainrod. Full of narcissistic fedoras, waistcoats, and camel coats, as though looking like a forgotten 1950s American B Movie star mattered to anyone.
Ranaldo Bairn
That shot is from 89/90 though when we were mediocre, especially between superb seasons in 88/89 and 90/91.
