ajwffc
For what I have heard (manager at local supermarket) that the production is finished and most supermarkets have had their final deliverys.
Bert Raccoon
Sainsburys in Hamilton had about 200 bottles when I was in the other day, I'd imagine most supermarkets would be the same.
pub car king
The new old stuff has landed in darkest Englandshire. Took no chances and cleared the shop out. It's been chilling all day in the fridge and the first bottle has been fucking tanned. It smells like the original stuff, it is quite foamy when it is poured. Taste wise it is not quite the original but it is 99% there and of anything it is sweeter. There is no horrific metal after taste though and in all honesty it was fucking glorious and the other 11 bottles will be lucky to see February.
sjc
The name of this thread should be changed to Irn Bru anonymous . its like a cross between an addiction clinic and the Silk Road site on the dark web! Just goes to show how addictive sugar is.

Miguel Sanchez
I'm coming round to the taste of the 1901 version. But I had a can of the real stuff on Monday and it's incomparable.

Other than a noticeable frothyness to the 1901 stuff that the old stuff didn't have, I thought it was pretty similar. Certainly close enough.
pub car king
There is a definite difference but it's very subtle. 1901 is frothy a bit like a pint of Tennents with a head and it's not as fizzy in a strange way. Very morish though I tanned the whole bottle in about 10 minutes, I was trying to savour it but that never lasted.

pandarilla
So are they still intending to pull the 1901 stuff? Or has that happened already?

They definitely chose the wrong option when they halved the sugar levels, if they'd raised the price I don't think people would have minded all that much. Prob'ly in the minority here but I prefer the new half'n'half to the old "full sugar" recipe - haven't been of a mind to try the 1901 version, which seems quite pricey, unless someone can guarantee me it's laced with medicinal grade cocaine... Big Chief Toffee Teeth
Spotted this Italian substitute for Ba' Bru in the Garfagnana last year. Popular with the West Central Scotland Italian exiles who descend on this part of the world every summer, I would imagine.
