Detournement
There will still be people with large amounts of low cost Bitcoin as there has never been enough liquidity for the OG types to completely cash out. Also when you see Musk or other big investors buying large amounts I doubt they are buying off the same exchanges as retail investors. The real scam is controlling the price via the exchanges and skimming all the transactions. That can go on indefinitely. I don't think it's a coincidence that this is all starting to get hyped up again when household savings are at a record high and the US government is firing out stimulus cheques.
Lofarl
Finally got my Freetrade account verified. Well that only took two fucking weeks. Cheeky buggers only sell GME stock to its premium members. How exactly is that even allowed? Gamestock seems to be done with anyway. It’s all about some marijuana stock now in wallstreetbets. I’m sure this is just to try and get that meme stock to $420.

Crypto is going to go mental this year and algo are possibly going to be a massive player in the future of money . We are all now paying digitally be it card or app or whatever even more so because if the last year so to hold digital money in a digital crypto wallet is just the same as having it in RBS app or whatever. Just you get over 7% on your dough in crypto . Don’t post much ,but if there’s anything I’d share it’s possibly a free ride for all If you’re going to do recommends maybe best to add a disclaimer... -

Could sell out and see but will then get stung by charges. Are yours weighted towards Asian markets? I think I’m short on bond exposure which may have helped lessen the blow.
SANTAN
You only make a loss when you sell.
gaz5
You only make a loss when you sell. This (depending on your age and investment outlook, it's obviously easier the toner you are and longer outlook you have)There's not been a cycle since the 20's I don't think when the market didn't trend upwards. The last 18 months it has pumped massively whatever index or measure you look at, so it's due a correction. My plan is to keep buying the correction every month in the same funds I'm currently in and dollar cost average over the long term.Worked for me in 2008 and 2016. I look at it like you're buying things you're already invested in while they're on sale, reducing your average cost and therefore reducing the recovery they need to make to get back to where you were and into bigger profit. If you sell, you need to get your timing/selections really spot on.Time in the market > timing the market and all that.
IrishBhoy
I’ve done something that I said I wasn’t going to do, and removed most of my money from a couple of safe investment indexes and slowly dripping it into Bitcoin and Ethereum as their prices fall. The sentiment and volatility around these two cryptos at the moment makes me confident enough to try and get in as close to the bottom as possible and back out on the next rise. Major FOMO vibes here, and it’s something I would normally stay well away from, but when a single Elon Musk tweet can send a coin rocketing to all time highs, it makes sense to try and piggy back it.

Good lad, interesting thread on the E-chat section with a few guys that are into that stuff and are usually excellent with answering any questions.

My annualised return over a five year plus period is back to what it was in November. The last couple of months have been pretty false, but it’s always gutting to see it climb so high then crash. Still think the American markets can reach new highs over the rest of this calendar year. -

It’s unavoidable now, the technologies that are sprouting from these cryptocurrencies is mind boggling, some proper clever stuff. What platform are you using? Im using Coinbase as their wallets are compatible with an NFT platform I use.
sparky88
Gives me chills thinking about people putting 'most of their money' into Bitcoin and other crypto. But that's maybe a reflection of my aversion to risk more than anything else.

Of course it's not good habit to leave them online so to speak, not your keys, not your coins.

But that's maybe a reflection of my aversion to risk more than anything else. To be fair it’s not ‘most of my money’, it’s most of my money that I have invested. It’s almost always a very clever decision to manage your risk, but I don’t want to be the guy telling the story about how I nearly invested in Bitcoin in 30 years time. It could become worthless tomorrow and I would call myself an idiot for a few weeks, or it could be the best thing I ever done. Who knows, that’s the fun of it.
